I metioned to my dvc rep I was going to chicago tommorow and i was going to stop at the doorway to dream there and he told me about an event that they were holding while im there . It is called the Sea What's next for DVC" If im correct the event is the same invite i got before the doorway to dream opened here in NY and it was awesome . I guess it is going to be a 45 minute intro of whats comming then you go to a party room where you mingle and they let the disney charecters intereact with everyone and there is a DJ too and im hoping too say Hi to Miss Dee Vee Cee again hope she remembers me if she does it is going too be funny !!!!
when I get back i will tell all about it since im also taking a pp friend with us Lazana and her family too .

We went last night. It was a nice event as usual (I've attended all of the previous events) but I could tell the budget was tighter this year. There were fewer guest speakers who were there in person and more taped videos. The one they had with the chef on the Disney Dream was almost impossible to understand. I will say that the Dream looks amazing! Although most of the info they shared is already out on the internet.
This was the first time I've seen them use one of the local guides in the presentation. Derrick (from Schaumburg) and Nikki were the hosts - with some help from Deevy See. They had a singer perform one of the songs from the Golden Mickey's, gave everyone a free non-alcoholic version of a Konk Kooler, a matted Captain Mickey print (nicer than I thought it would be) and a DVC reusable grocery/tote bag with a vinyl DVC portfolio, pad and pen. Afterwards there was a dance party with characters and refreshments. We didn't stay for it, but it looked like they had small sub sandwiches and fruit kabobs.
The incentives were announced as follows:
100 pts:
3 night Disney Dreams cruise - Ocean View for 4 guests
125 pts:
4 night Disney Dream cruise - Ocean View for 4 guests
200 pts:
7 night Wonder or Magic cruise - Ocean View - 2 guests
or
4 Night Member cruise - Ocean View - 2 guests
250 points:
7 night Wonder or Magic cruise - Veranda - 4 guests
or
4 night Member Cruise - Veranda - 4 guests
400 points:
7 night Wonder or Magic cruise - Veranda - 4 guests
plus $800 onboard credit
I wrote quickly so I hope all of the guest numbers are correct. They also mentioned the possibility of point credits in lieu of the cruise and gave one example. If you bought 250 points at the Grand Californian you got a $22 point credit. With current points listed at $112 that would bring the cost down to $90. They said to talk to a guide for more info on other resorts or point amounts so I think the discounted points may vary. They also mentioned that they were close to selling out at the Grand Califonian - not sure what that means though.
The other thing I noticed was that they really had fewer give aways then most previous events. Deevy gave away two limited edition pins - and they pulled one card for a door prize - a gift basket that I didn't see. It was a nice event, but definitely lower budget than previous ones.
We went to the event tonight. We had a good time. We didn't get the dvc portfolio though. The boys had fun while dancing with the characters. This is the first time we have gone to one of these events. They also served ice cream and slushie drinks.
