Renting/purchasing points for Aulani?

Forgive me, I'm not a DVC member, but I am very interested in renting/purchasing points from a DVC member so that we can stay at Aulani on an upcoming trip. Any advice or tips and general pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Also, is there another area on the boards for discussing or reading up on Aulani? I couldn't really figure out where to look as the main forums are WDW, DL, DCL and a general Globetrotting.

Thanks in advance!

Can't help with most of your questions but wanted to point out that if you wish to rent for Aulani, you really need to do it more than 7 months in advance. Aulani has proven surprisingly popular with members and it's consistently filling up right at 7 months when owners can use points from any DVC resort to book there.

That may not be the case year-round but I can tell you that summer 2012 is virtually booked solid at this time.

I'd suggest finding a rental partner at least 8 months in advance of your travel dates and make certain that he/she is prepared to call 7 months to the day in hopes of getting your reservation.

I would suggest going through a reputable place that specializes in renting out points for members so you have no worries..

Just wanted to second the opinion that it is best to try and get points from someone who's home resort is Aulani. I was able to get the very end of july/beginning of august at 7 months but I was not able to get the room category I wanted.

Also points to stay there are expensive, so the cost per point you will pay may also be high. Do shop around a bit. There are some very good people out there, but also some that may not be so honest, so ask for references! I think there is another forum that has people on it who regularly rent out points. My guess is you might be paying around $15 per point, but that is just a guess as I haven't visited that other forum for a while. You might want to check and see if you can stay on a cash ressie and how much that would be as well.
