Just booked!!! It will be our first trip to AKV! We are going July 18. We know it will be crowded but since my oldest will be going away to school for her freshman year I want her to have some time with her friends and family. We also don't mind not seeing "everything" we'll be back lol. Is it common to make a room request and if so what do you suggest?
Thank you....

I think as far as a room request goes, it depends on what's the most important thing to you or whether you're not really that worried. For me, I have chronic fatigue, so especially with Kidani, as it's such a huge, sprawling resort, when we stayed there, I requested a room close to the lobby, as I didn't want a long walk back to the room after a day at the parks.
Thats what I was thinking as well since my husband has horrible knees....anything else to know it is our first time there and looking for some relaxation

Definately near the lobby if your hubby has bad knees. We stayed there last month and loved it but we were the LAST room in the hotel (go all the way until the hallway ends and then turn left for our room!!!) Luckily, we had a car so we could park at the last elevator and then take a shorter walk to the room. I have knee issues (I had surgery for a torn meniscus and have arthritis) and the walk from the lobby was a LONG WAY the evening that we used the bus. The plus to our room being where it was - the animals were fed right outside our room so each morning we got to see all the zebras and giraffes gathering for their breakfast and then they would be back in the early evening for dinner.
thank you all!
i asked for a room near the lobby although i know it may not br granted i said as close as possible.
what other tips if any do you have?

Interesting.... I called yesterday and was told by the CM that at Kidani, I could not request a room close to the lobby. Maybe I should call back and ask again.?

I would. We were certainly able to do that. Did you explain that you were making the request for medical reasons?
I have never had a problem with a room request. My husband will probably undergo knee replacement some time before we go if he can get his white coat syndrom under control.............lol his blood pressure goes crazy around doctors! When I called ms she said she cannot guarantee which I understand...
Giraffes are my favorite!!! def spending time watching them!

You can ask for a request, I never heard of that. We usually do, sometimes we don't get it. But once we got the worst room ever. It was on the side, "Savanna" view but it was staring at a barb wire fence. We actually asked to be moved which is something we don't usually do. They isn't give us a problem. They found an open room and moved us.
So when you get there if they assign you a room you don't like, you can still ask for another room, just ask to be shown the location on the map before going there like we did and having haul back
