Do you think they need to do something extra for DVC Members?
We bought in 1995 and got park passes with every ressie until 2000. They told us they would give us "great deals" after 2000.
As a DVC Member and Disney Stockholder I haven't seen any significant DEALS since then.
The BLT 16th floor Lounge has less variety of food and beverages and we pay the same rate as the guy down the street when they dine at other resort locations.
We get discounts on some restaurants (which the servers have confusion about) and 15% on the Driving experience....but seriously 15% on an activity that costs a couple hundred dollars is not so much a gift.
We were ignorant enough to book a trip 3/6-3/15/12 and had a horrid time getting on the rides - we found Fast passes GONE by 11am in some parks. Trying to do Soarin or the Toy Story ride in Disney Studios was pointless.
If Members were to ask for something...what should we ask for?
a EASY PASS plastic card that you flash to enter rides
Free Appetizers on the meal plan (or the ability to swap the appe for the dessert)
Deep Discount for Photopass Disc (50% off retail)
Use 1 DDP credit for the usual 2 credit locations
Same merchandise discount as the Annual Pass Holders
WHAT DO YOU THINK?????

No way. What you're asking for is "unlimited fastpasses", and I am dead certain some people would abuse that by riding the same thing over and over and over and over and over and ... you get the idea.
The Dining plan should do this anyway. What about just a discount on meal plans, at all? Given how many DVC accomodations include kitchen facilities, it might be in Disney's interests to entice more DVCers to buy into the meal plans at all ...
50% off would certainly be too much, but 20% might be reasonable. Remember that Disney still needs to make a profit!
No, the DDP should use the same rules for everyone.
How about just a discount on that AP? Or do you already get one?

Great question! I think they should give us a deal on the DDP! I would take any other deals they offer but I feel as though they don't offer anything to DVC memebers and they should!
We bought in right about the time they stopped giving park admission, I guess.
They do give a discount on AP's, but for anyone who doesn't go multiple times a year, that's not really worth it. We normally buy 10 day park hoppers with the no expiration option, and those will last 3 trips, which could be 2 years or 3 years, depending on our travel plans. We actually still have 6 water park admissions left on tickets we bough 4 or 5 years ago!
I think the issue is that DVC isn't having any trouble selling points without any of the suggested perks, so not sure they'd really give much consideration to this until sales fall off....
But I do like the idea of more perks for members!

Perks are always great, and I wouldn't turn them down, but the real value of DVC is in the time-share ownership itself. I'd still think it a great value even without any extras. I feel the same way about an Annual Pass. I like the perks and use them, but definitely get my money's worth without them.
I am not a DVC owner, but keep up with happenings somewhat. Have you tried comparing what you get as DVC member to what other Timeshare owners at other places get? Most other timeshares...you get the timeshare and that is it. I think The DVC program is very generous in the fact it offers all sorts of discounts and special access to programs and events through the year. You are lucky!
OP - I'm sorry you had a tough trip. I hope your next stay is much better and restores your love of WDW.
If I wanted to be a timeshare owner at another resort I would have bought at another company.
I bought at Disney because they promised they would always make ownership special.
We used to get a DVC discount in the DTD store, that stopped years ago.
The Photopass disc is $149.95 and going to $169.95 yet I have had trouble finding photographers especially at Extra magic Hours. I think they could still make a profit if they cut us a 50% off (the disc would still be $75).
I am just saying that appreciation for the steady business we members provide would be nice. At BLT we felt like we were bothering them to check in......

Have you written to Disney about your concerns?
I understand trying to get what others "feel" they want included but what do YOU want? You want the old perk back! Write and tell them. They may just offer you that extra something that makes you feel like they are listening.
Of course once everyone here hears about your attempt - they will be wanting in on it too! Disney does listen to their guests but we must speak first! Good luck!

You took the words right out of my mouth Laurie! I love the perks we get and, don't get me wrong, if any of them went, I'd be sad, but I realise that's the way it is. I only have to look at brochure prices over here to realise how many thousands of pounds (and that converts to even more dollars with the exchange rate ) we've saved in the last 10 years.

I agree and would add:
I compare what we pay compared to what we would have paid without DVC. Our 09 trip was worth 25K...thats 3K or more than my contracts and we went 10, going May 12, Dec 12 and oh for the next 45 years!!!!
I joined for the accomodations while at WDW. So, I'm happy with my choice of studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom units, although I hardly ever use the studio choice.
The $100 discount on AP's is nice and I use it, but that is not the reason I purchased DVC. Even if this discount went away, I'd just buy the Florida Resident Pass. Right now, the DVC AP is a better price and no blackout dates, but to tell the truth, the blackout dates are not when I want to be in WDW.
Likewise, the occasional discount at a restaurant or activity are nice too, but again, not the reason I purchased DVC.

Our 520 points at 4 resorts have more than paid for themselves. However the common fees we pay for that many points is more than a WDW deluxe resort vacation. I would LOVE free dining. Not all the time but when everyone has it offered.
I wouldn't expect them to give dvc members anything that will cost disney. It the end it will cost the members. A couple free things I can think of that would be nice is one fast pass per day for each person in the room. Another thing would be an extra 10 day window for ADRs. We would be able to make an ADR at 190 days instead of 180. That would help on some of the hard to get reservations during busy times.
