Hi,

About tipping the Mousekeeping staff. At one time, there were envelopes in hotel rooms that made it clear how to place tips. At my home resort (Saratoga Springs), there's merely a folded card with the information that the room has been cleaned.
With the service limited to replacing towels on the 4th day, what about tipping? Should I leave a tip in between the folds of the card on the 4th day? When I leave? If so, how much?
Thanks for responses.
I've never heard of Disney providing tipping envelopes. Disney housekeeping is not considered a tipped position. It's not like restaurant waitstaff where wages are set intentionally low with the understanding that they will be supplemented by gratuities.
That said, some do still choose to tip. However there is no universal agreement on a suitable tipping level...particularly for DVC accommodations which often receive only one cleaning (before arrival) per stay.
Search the forum and you'll find several other threads with opinions from members. Ultimately it's up to you to decide if the service warrants additional compensation.
We usually leave about $5 on trash and towel day and either $10 or $15 at the end of the stay. I put the cash in a very clearly marked envelope in a very conspicuous place (on the towels, for example). The last day, I leave it on the table.
I don't recall envelopes, either. I have always made my own and brought them with.

That's my experience as well. I really can't recall seeing any envelopes. We decorate our own envelopes with stickers and color pictures for Mousekeeping.

That's how I do it as well. I make envelopes and leave them under the Mousekeeping card on the vanity counter.

Yup we do the same thing as Sue. I also tip personally if we need something and the housekeeper does give them to us-like one time we needed extra bedding as DH spilled water on the bed . I did make it myself though.
I was gonna leave a few dollars a day, because I read that it might not be the same person cleaning your room everyday. But from this thread it sounds like they are only in there a frew times a week. So should i just leave $ on the 4th and last day or stick w/ my few dollars/day?

If you are staying on points and your stay is 7 days or less, housekeeping is only in the room on the 4th day for trash and towel. If you're staying for 8 days or more, the 4th day is a full cleaning and the 8th day is trash and towel.
If you have a cash reservation booked through Disney (not MS) than you will get daily housekeeping.
We don't tip for trash and towel service since that is the normal duty of their position. I consider Housekeeping a regularly paid position that does not require tipping. However, if we ask housekeeping to do something special that they do above and beyond their normal duties I always tip them for that.
