Tell me about SSRS!

We've never stayed at SS and this is our first trip as a DVC member. Tell me everything I need to know!

I was looking at a map tonight and didn't really see where the DVC villas are. In the past, I've usually requested a specific building so it would be nice to have an idea of where in the resort we might be, if anyone can answer that.

We're so excited!!! I think I've mentioned that in just about every post but we really are!!! Even the kids are excited to stay in a 1 bedroom and have the extra space to spread out.

We like the grandstand area. However if you want to be closer to the "action" I would pick the springs. We are SSR fans even though many people are not. I enjoy how close everything is to DTD. I like not sharing a bus with several resorts. Just remember that SSR is big! Also if you have a car it helps cut down your transportation times.

I've stayed there once and was in the grandstand area as well. The resort is very large, but the pool was nice. You can take the boat to DTD which is convenient. I agree that having a car would cut down on transportation times. There were a few instances I thought our bus was never going to leave the resort.

We have only stayed in the Grandstand area. We were in a two bedroom right next to the golf course and tree house villas. Our villa was in excellent condition, and it was very quiet there. The kids enjoyed the pool area at The Grandstand section. and they also the Community Hall in the Springs section. The buses started at The Grandstand, which is nice, and they were usually running on time. The bus does make several stops, but only at Saratoga. You just have to factor in travel time. Have fun planning your trip!

We like SSR as well! We've stayed in the Grandstand and in the Paddock. Loved both! We were close to bus transportation, the boats (quick walk) and the main building. My kids loved the Paddock pool area!! We enjoy spending time and dining at DTD so it has easily become one of our favorite resorts.

We like the Grandstand as well and that is usually where we stay at SSR. The splash pad/pool area is great (especially for kids) We stayed at Congress Park several years ago and liked that it was conveninet to walk to Downtown Disney from there. ( If I am correct, all of the units at SSR are DVC villas which is why you don't see different categories of rooms when looking at a map. The studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms are mixed throughout.)

Ahhhh, well that makes sense!

I know before we were members we could request a specific building or specific area when making our reservation. I know it's never guaranteed, but can you request a certain area with DVC? That would help! Transportation isn't a big deal as we are planning on driving this trip. Usually we try to catch a bus or whatever to MK just to avoid the TTC but if we're worried about having a long wait for the bus or the fact that the bus needs to circle the entire resort we'll just drive. We've driven to MK before, it's not a huge deal, but it's nice to take a bus, boat, monorail, whatever and be dropped off right outside of MK.

We were looking at pictures last night and I'm sure we won't be disappointed. The closeness to DD might come in handy since we're so far into the 180 days for dining and I have no clue what we're going to be able to get. I did get The Plaza the day we arrive at the time I wanted (that's become a tradition for us), so hopefully that's a good sign, but I usually book meals the minute that we can. As soon as the kids are in bed tonight I need to make my calendar with the park times and EMH's so I can map out where we want to be on what days and get started making our reservations.

I'm so excited for November!!!

Someone else, well one of our Guides, Eeyore Tattoo, just asked this question too (popular resort! ), and there's quite a bit of info in that thread that can help you out: Here I go again! Tell me about SSR :-)

It's a great resort. DH and I really enjoyed it when we stayed there a few years ago, and we too chose to stay in the Grandstand area and would do so again on another trip. We loved it's being first for pick-up/drop off, as well as it's close proximity to The Carriage House/main pool.
