Some people have (booked at 7 months) but I believe many others were unsuccessful. Aulani was very in-demand this summer and I expect that to continue. More rooms will open up to members as they continue to build and sell points but I would suggest being open to multiple views & dates, and not purchasing any airline tickets until a reservation is confirmed.
I think it depends on what month you are booking for. My mom went end of February to early March and had no problem booking at the 7 month mark, but I bet summer would be tougher.
We were wait listed for the last few nights of our stay (which began May 31), but it came through. We stayed 9 nts in a std view studio room. There were definitely more guests there as our stay went on, most likely due to kids getting out of school. I agree that as they open more rooms, your chances should improve. There was an entire tower that appeared to be completed on the outside, but we were told was not yet complete on the inside. It is a beautiful resort, good luck!
