Mousekeeping in Villas

We are not DVC owners (yet), but are staying in a 1 bed Villa at BC in November. I am trying to convince DH to buy into DVC on our trip. How does the mousekeeping work for the rooms? Does it matter if you are DVC or not?

I think, (emphasize the think part!) that if you are staying in the villas on a cash per night basis you get mouse keeping each day. If you are using points then it goes to the regularly scheduled times for DVC. Good luck with the purchase!!!! Quite literally the best decision we have ever made for our family

Correct!

If you're staying on cash, then you'll get the usual housekeeping service every day. If you're a DVC Member, and staying for seven nights or less, you will get trash and towel (they empty the trash and replace the towels) on your fourth day. If you're staying for eight or more nights, then it's different. You get the full cleaning service on the fourth day, then you get trash and towel service on the eighth day, then the cycle starts again.

I will say that this aspect of Membership concerned me before we bought in, but I can honestly say that now it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, for us, it reinforces the feeling that we're staying in a home away from home, with no-one picking up after us every day, so it's not like a hotel, it is more like being at home, if that makes sense?

I agree with this 100%. I thought it would be a bit disappointing not to have the daily cleaning service, but it is the exact opposite. There is no need to be concerned about getting out of the villa by a certain time so that housekeeping can do their thing; you just need to be aware for the one or two days during your trip and plan accordingly. I find it much more relaxing.

I also wanted to make sure that everyone's responses were clear to the OP... If you booked your reservation through Disney's central reservations line, you will not notice any difference from the service you normally receive. You will receive daily full cleaning, and if you have dirty dishes housekeeping will even put them in the dishwasher and start the cleaning for you. You will be a hotel guest, just like any other hote guest. However, if you are renting points from an owner, you will be treated as if you were a DVC member and receive the limited housekeeping services.

For our first stay in a villa (2BR at Wilderness Lodge in 2010), we booked directly through Disney, so I speak from experience. We bought our first DVC contract while on that trip, thanks in large part to our positive experience. You really can't beat all the space you have in the larger DVC villas, and the access to a full kitchen and washer/dryer is incredible.

Thanks all...we are clean freaks only being prior military so we usually clean up our hotel rooms and make the beds before we leave anyways. Just wanted to be aware so we are not having too much trash lying around.

Are there trash cans where you can empty your trash outside if needed?

There may be, but I've never noticed. If ours get filled up, I just tend to put the larger items (and it tends to be recycling that we fill up) next to the bin.

There are plenty of places to empty your trash. We usually do this every morning before we head to the parks. We try to keep our room tidy as well. One less thing to worry about on the trip home

Yes, there are trash rooms nearby if you need or want to empty your trash bins.
