Book now or wait

I'm planning a trip next March. We own at VWL. I'm inviting my SIL, her husband, her daughter(DN) and her husband and two daughters. They are interested in coming, but need to determine if they have the money. I've asked for an answer by August, before the 7 month window. I plan on getting a 2 bedroom for my family and a 2 bedroom for them if they all come. If the men bail, I'll probably get a one bedroom for them (although DN is enough of a Disney nut - Disneyland version, that she said she would be happy in any size room). I don't have enough points for the weekends, so am providing the DVC rooms for Sun-Thurs nights and we will move to another resort for the weekend.

My question is this - I would like to stay at the Beach Club if possible. If not, than I would prefer Old Key West to save points. Since I would be reserving March 12-16, I'm just entering the 11 month window. Should I reserve one 2 bedroom at VWL now and then switch things around at the 7 month window or should I just wait until the 7 month window? I've decided our family is definately going whether the extended family is going or not. I don't want to reserve both rooms now as I will have to borrow to do so and don't want to have borrowed points if they decide not to go.

What would you do?

I would go ahead and book, then change. At least you'd know you had a place to stay.

Re: Book now or wait

I agree with all! book now! Otherwise you might end up in my situation (see the Help what to do?? post on this board)

You can always change later. I wish I would have booked at my 11 month window so I would at least have a room. Now I'm playing a waiting game until my 7 month window.

Good Luck !

I would book now and change if you have to in a few months. March can be very busy-Spring Break!

Re: Book now or wait

I went ahead and booked a 2 bedroom at VWL today. So we have a room just in case. At 7 months I'll add the second 2 bedroom if the other families are going and try for BCV or maybe get a OKW Grand Villa instead of available. There were still some this morning, but that can change in four months.

Thanks for the feedback.

glad you went ahead and got your room! At least now you know that you'll have a place to lay your head!!! at your 7 month window that you're able to switch.
