hawaii

We just became members last fall and we are thinking of going to Hawaii through the DVC this coming summer. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which way to go, through the concierge collection or interval international? We're looking for a one week stay at a family hotel. We have a 10 year old boy who loves to swim and would like to swim with the dolphins if possible. I guess we're just looking for some friendly suggestions, anyone?

Re: hawaii

I'm not sure what Island you are looking at but we have a trip planned to the big Island in October 2006. I just bought the book "The Big Island Revealed" by Andrew Doughty. It is excellent!!!
I just was reading the Adventures section last night and they have a Dolphin Encounter listed. It is at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. It states that there are several Atlantic bottle nosed dolphins in their lagoon. You stand on a shallow shore with 3 or 4 others and the dolphins come up to you. The water is replaced every couple of hours by a pump making it very clean. It also states that children are the desired guests and the staff is excellent with them but adults are welcome too. Cost is $150 for 1/2 hour with dolphins and 1/2 hour educational program for kids ($175 for adults) but other programs are also available. must reserve 60 days in advance.
Spinner dolphins can be seen in the wild in Kealakekua Bay or on a kayak ride to the Captain Cook monument. The author says he was able to get into the water with 19 dolphins including babies.
Sorry, can't help with who to go with to make the reservations.

Re: hawaii

We're not sure which Island either. We're looking for a location that's convenient to many attraction. I'll be heading to the book store tomorrow to check out that book, thanks for the suggestion.
