1st DVC trip \"home\" aka to SSR

Hey! My mom and I are going on our first DVC trip in one week and I have one last question. We are staying at SSR, and I was wondering how is the transportation? I keep hearing bad things about the transportation, but does anyone have any good stories about it?

Re: 1st DVC trip \"home\" aka to SSR

We stayed there in December '04 and didn't have any memorably-bad experiences. I think one time we waited almost 20 minutes for a bus, but that was the exception and it happens elsewhere, too. Most of the time we waited 10min or less.

You'll find it to be great if you leave a park closing with thousands of others. You and everyone else headed to SSR will almost certainly fit on a single bus while those headed to the Boardwalk/Dolphin/Swan need to wait for 4 busses to come and go before they squeeze into one (can you sense the bitterness from my trip last week. One night we watched the MK fireworks at 8pm and hadn't even made it back to the BoardWalk before the Epcot fireworks ENDED--it took us almost NINETY MINUTES just to exit the MK, board a bus and get back to our hotel. )

We were at SSR in December '05 and stayed in the section where the first bus stop is. We never had to wait long at all. If you are staying in the section closest to Downtown Disney, you may have a little bit of a walk to the nearest bus stop. The only time we were on a crowded bus was on Saturday morning heading to the Magic Kingdom (one of the first MK busses of the day).

Re: 1st DVC trip \"home\" aka to SSR

We didn't use the bus at all when we stayed at Saratoga Springs in December 2004, but I was over to the spa on our most recent stay in December 2005 and there was a bus there within a couple of minutes and no-one there seemed to have been waiting long. To be honest, the bus service we had there was actually better than at the Beach Club Villas.

Aww I'm sorry it took you ninety minutes. That is absolutley crazy! My family stayed at All-Stars Music once. At the closing of Animal Kingdom it took six buses before we could get on. That made us say "Never again will we stay at All-Stars." Of course, I'm jumping for joy at not having to wait in horrendously long bus lines!

Thanks everybody for the info!

We'll be there this week, too!

I've visited SSR for the last several trips (we always try to stop in to see our DVC rep when we are down at the World) and the transportation was great. In fact, it was better than to the resort we were at last trip!

We'll have our Passporter pins on. If you see us, stop and say :hello: !
