Hi! My name is Susan, and I'm tickled pink (or is it black & red?) to be given the opportunity to be a PassPorter co-Guide!
I was born in Southern California, and was adopted by my aunt and uncle when I was just 2 years old. I kept in close contact with both sides of my family, and it was a little strange (but who doesn't have a bit of an odd family!), as I had 3 brothers and 2 sisters, but none of them had that many siblings. In my career, I've been various types of office worker, from receptionist to office manager, manufacturing to paralegal. By most recent trade I'm an eBay seller (and buyer, of course!), as well as a Special Education Aide.
My parents wouldn't waste a dime on Disney (although they did take me one time), but Disneyland was close enough that my school went every year. When I was a kid (OK, as recently as last year) I would fantasize that I was Walt's long lost daughter. My husband and I met in high school, and we went to Disneyland fairly frequently, as friends, a couple, then as a family. We were introduced to Disneyworld in 1995 thru Make A Wish, and that started a whole new addition to our love of Disney. I never realized how much we loved Disney until we moved to Colorado in 1997 and couldn't go at a moment's notice.
My husband and I will be celebrating 31 years together on Feb 6th (he robbed the cradle... I was 16, he was 18 when we started dating our senior year in high school). We have 2 daughters, aged 21 and 11. Our son was between them, a perfectly normal little boy until he turned 3, when he was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor. We learned a lot from him, about patience, tolerance, and living life to the fullest.
We were introduced to Disney Vacation Club on our Make-A-Wish trip, and the next year when we took our daughters on "their" Disneyworld trip, we made the decision to buy in. That was July 1998, and we were just sorry we didn't do it prior to that trip! I didn't discover PassPorter until 2006, and became a member in January 2007. It's the most amazing website I've ever been involved with -- friendly, supportive, helpful, and the most incredible source of information on Disney from all aspects, both personal and professional.
The photo below is me with DD11, our 2008 PassPorter, and her EnglePuppe (doll from Germany) taken on Nov 21, 2007, the first (I think) sighting of a 2008 edition on property! We saw just a very few PassPorter folks that trip... hope to see LOTS more friends there next time.
