michnash\'s Guide Bio

Hello Fellow PassPorter and Disney Fans! On the boards I’m known as “michnash” and I am a Guide for the “Making More Magic” forum on the most wonderful boards on the web. I guess I was first bitten by the "Disney Bug" back when I was a little girl and I watched Disney Movies like "The Rescuers" and reruns of the original "Mickey Mouse Club." My first trip to Walt Disney World (which at the time was made up of only the Magic Kingdom) was in 1975, when I was 8 years old.

I returned to Walt Disney World with my high school choir in 1984. My third trip was in 1986.

Currently I am 38 years old and my name is Michelle. I am a Teacher Technologist. That means that I used to teach in the classroom (mainly 2nd grade) and now I help the teachers learn all the skills needed to integrate technology into the curriculum. (That's the short version!) I love computers and all techno-gadgets. But not as much as I LOVE going to Walt Disney World!

I am a single mom of one son, Todd. I always wanted to take him to Walt Disney World, but we never had the money (or so I thought) to go. I was determined that he would go there while he was still little. Finally, I decided to make his first trip for his 8th Birthday. (This is the same age I was on my first trip!) That was in the year 2000. It was an awesome time to go because of the Millennium Celebration.

Well, I (being the geek I am) began searching the web for information and books about Walt Disney World. I knew about the “Official” guide to Disney; I had used it on a previous trip of mine. When I searched Amazon.com for the guide book, I saw the PassPorter guidebook for the first time! It was in 1999, I believe, when I started planning. (Or maybe it was 1998; I don’t remember.) The description sounded great and when I first started reading PassPorter Guide to WDW, I fell in love with the book!! The book led me to this site…and the rest is history-so to speak.

My son and I did make our first trip together (my fourth trip) to Walt Disney World in May-June of 2000. We stayed 2 weeks at the All Star Movies resort and had an AWESOME time! He loved WDW as much as I did! Since that first historic trip for us, we have returned 9 other times and last summer we stayed a whopping 25 days in a tent at Ft. Wilderness resort (in July!!!) This summer, we are using the same AP to stay 35 days in May-June in a tent at Ft. Wilderness. That’s how much we love it. He’ll be celebrating his 13th birthday on this trip. Ahhhh…the teenage years.

My son has Asperger’s Syndrome, which is a condition on the Autism spectrum. He is a perfectionist and has a few OCD tendencies. You can read more about it in my last trip report: Am I Crazy...Or Just Crazy for WDW??

Have a Magical Day!!
