LauraBelle Hime\'s Guide Bio

Hi, fellow PassPorters. It is so hard to believe it has been 8 years. I found my first PassPorter in a bookstore in Charlotte, NC in February 2000. I was looking for something new and different about WDW. Wow...what a find it was!
I grew up in the 50's and knew at a very early age that I was fascinated by anything Disney. At the same time, I was so frustrated. We could get only one channel on the TV and it wasn't the channel the "Mickey Mouse Club" was on and Disneyland was so far away. Soon "The Wonderful World of Disney" would be a must see for me on Sunday evening.
I finally made it to DL in 1966. At the time, my husband to be, Shaun, was stationed at Camp Pendleton. I was only 19 at the time and I still don't know how I convinced my
father to let me go to California alone to visit my boyfriend.
I didn't make it back to Disney again until 1980 when we made our first trip to WDW. By then Shaun and I had 3 children, Shannon, Shandon and Stacie. We made one more trip in the 80's and then had another 10 year dry spell. Since 1992, I have lost track of the number of trips to WDW and DL.
On the home front, we have 5 grandchildren, Alexis 12, Olivia 7, Caleb 4, Jacob 3, & Samantha 2. Of course there are the dogs, brothers Benny and Farley...black and white Shih-Tzus.
I was a teacher aide at the local elementary school for 24 years and am now the school secretary. I have always been interested in sports. I coach youth soccer in the fall, keep score or the time clock for many of our school's basketball teams during the winter, coordinate our local RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) Program and I'm president of the school's PSRP union. (School Related Personnel)
If there's anything I can do to help anyone as Co-Guide of The Family Room, The Porch, DL: Feasting & Snacking: The Eateries, and DL: Staying in Style: The Hotels, just let me know.
Happy "Disney" dreaming!
