Re: Seeing (Soap) Stars at Disney: Making the Most of Super Soap Weekend 2006 Updates in last post!

Calling all soap fans! It's that time of year again, time to start planning for the 11th Annual Super Soap Weekend to be held November 11 and 12, 2006 at Disney MGM.

The list of stars tentatively scheduled to attend is up on the ABC website, and there are a few exciting inclusions this year.

First, Rosie O'Donnell, new host of ABC's The View will be there. I don't know if she will be hosting some of the events, but I imagine so, since SoapNet's talkshow, SoapTalk, was cancelled this past summer. Someone will have to host the outdoor talk shows that Soaptalk hosts Ty Treadway and Lisa Rinna formerly hosted. I know Rosie is a long-time AMC fan, and even made a guest appearance on the show, so she will bring an interesting perspective as both a fan and someone who knows the actors.

Also, the official SSW website states that a VERY SPECIAL EVENTG will be held on Friday, November 10, the day before SSW, featuring Anthony Geary and Genie Francis (Luke and Laura Spencer, General Hospital). This year marks the 25th anniversary of Luke and Laura's wedding in 1981, which made daytime history as the most watched episode, ever. Genie Francis will be returning to General Hospital in October for a limited time to honor Luke and Laura, and this is the ONLY event at Super Soap in which both actors will participate. Neither Tony or Genie make very many personal appearances, so this would be THE event to attend if you are a Luke and Laura fan. As soon as more details of the event are released, I will post them here.

I'm sure some other changes to SSW will take place this year, since MGM has closed Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which was one of SSW's signature events, putting a lucky fan in the hot seat with two daytime stars. If I hear any other information, I will post it here.

I won't be attending this year but have friends who will and once again, will be happy to answer any questions anyone may have. Feel free to send me a p.m. Happy daytime star gazing!
