Oh no! I definitely want to go but that is the last day of Ryan's swim class. Big day - they jump off the diving board! I don't think I can make it from a 3:00 swim class in Central CT for NYC for a 7:30 show time.
Hmm - glad I popped down here. I just found out that Sarah's dance recital this year is early - on May 14th and 15th (figures - same day as Amanda's college graduation!)
I have had a dance recital on the last weekend in May every year for the past 17 years - but we're free, so far as I know.
Sarah and I would love to go - but I have to see if it's possible logistically - and see if John wants to come. Glad we have till next week to make a final decision!
We sttill want to go but are worried about hotel costs. It's just not physically possible to do this as a day trip and if we're going to come down, we'd planned to make a weekend or long weekend of it since Kelly's never really been to NYC before. Will check on hotel info. over the weekend and get back to you on Monday. Fingers crossed that we can attend!
If we both buy tickets and we're both on the boards do we both get the Dream Pass? I don't know if Kelly wants one but she'd be entitled to one. She's registered on the boards, but rarely posts. Also, we'd probably rather each purchase our own tickets but we'd want to sit together at the show. How would that work, or would you rather one of us buy the tickets? Also, what happens if we do purchase tickets now but have to back out?

i'm also going to say while everyone is making suggestions about cheaper hotels in NJ i know there are some big name hotels by me on LONG ISLAND and it is only a 45 minute long island train ride into the city just to give some ides ,
hampton inn rockville centre NY, holiday inn in lynbrook , these are just two .
good luck too all.

for these links; they've been very helpful. I think we want to stay in the city and as close to the Theater District/Midtown as possible, so this has given me a few options. I just wish I could find something comfortable, safe and clean that's nearby and afforadable, too. The added fly in the ointment is that most of the "deals" are for rooms w/ only 1 bed. I know I'm asking for a LOT in NYC but so far best I can find is a Hampton Inn at 8th and 51st that's $248/night but that includes breakfast in the morning and we'd each have our own bed, so I know we'd sleep better. Sigh. I WANT to do this but it looks like it's not going to come cheaply. Anyone have any other ideas or recommendations? I wish I WAS willing to travel by train out of the city at 11 p.m. on a Saturday night when I wasn't sure where I was going. I just don't think that's a very safe idea, especially for 2 single girls traveling alone.

Normally it's one Dream Pass per order, so your best bet is to purchase separately. Just let us know you want to sit together, and we'll be sure to take care of it.
The tickets are non-refundable to us, so I can't promise that we can take them back from you if you need to back out. However, if we end up with a waiting list for tickets (or have some other use for them) there shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think you'd want her to be pulled over by the NY State Police now would you? But then again, all you have to do is mention Disney and I'm sure they'd be completely forgiving.

It wouldn't be the NY State Police... once you hit the NY/Conn border going anything more that 45mph is a pipe dream because of the traffic!
We found a hotel that would sleep 5 of us for $194- on Hotels.com for The salisbury hotel? I have never stayed there, but I really wanted to stay in NYC and stay 2 nights and it was the cheapest I could find

for the answers, Dave! I told Kelly what I think the cost will be for the long weekend and she didn't run screaming from the room, so I think that's a good sign! We're not a definite, yes but we're leaning that way! I have this weekend off so I can play with the websites out there and really crunch some numbers. I may even contact AAA and see if they have any packages available. I appreciate that you're willing to seat us together, too. I'm legally blind and although I can read regular sized print, I sometimes have a hard time figuring out where things are in unfamiliar areas, i.e. judging steps, so Kelly will act as my guide. Not that I'm dragging her along by any means. She Disney as much as I do. Off to check out some other hotels. Wish me
