Saturday, May 2 - Drinks On The Monorail Meet
About This Page: This is a discussion on Saturday, May 2 - Drinks On The Monorail Meet within the PassPorter's "Decade of Dreams" Tour Headquarters, part of the PassPorter Community - Message Boards and Forums; Saturday, May 2nd After Wishes In The MK
I know this was mentioned a while back on some other threads, ...
I know this was mentioned a while back on some other threads, but nothing specific has been confirmed regarding this since then, so I'd like to make a meet out of this.
After Wishes ends around 9:40 pm or so, I think all those interested should meet at the base of the monorail ramps before heading up. Can anyone think of a less crowded place near here to meet as the crowds will be emptying out of the MK at this time? Somewhere in between the monorail and the boat docks would be good.
See if we can get here around 10 pm and head up to the monorail at about 10:15 or when everyone is gathered.
From here all of us will take the monorail to the Polynesian and go to Tambu to get our FAB of choice. Once everyone has gotten their drink it will be back on the monorail for a couple of circuits. If I'm right the monorail stays open 90 minutes til after park closing. So this would make it close to 11:30. Plenty of time to do this.
Now Jennifer mentioned she wanted to do a lounge meet at all three DOD resorts. Now one for the Contemporary isn't scheduled yet. We could possibly intead of getting our drinks at Tambu go to the CR and the Contempo Lounge and get our drinks there.
I thought about doing the Epcot monorail, but I think this makes more sense on this night.
I'm just throwing some ideas out there and see if anyone is interested and what route they would like to take on this.
BTW, how many PassPorters do you think we can fit into a monorail car?

I think this sounds great and Steve and I will definitely be up for something like this. I'm thinking the monorail might be very crowded at that time so it might be better to make our own way to the designated lounge, enjoy a couple of FABs, and ride the monorail thereafter (though I'm not sure how long it runs following park closure).
This is a great idea, and I'm adding it to the schedule. The only thought is ... how long will these resort lounges stay open? Anyone want to volunteer to call and check?
Hey Superdave!! Saturday is actually May 2nd I believe. That night we're going to be watching Wishes from the fireworks cruise which then returns to the Contemporary. Maybe we could swing by for a quick hello?? I'll watch the board to see what everyone decides on!

I just called WDW info and they were able to provide with the hours for the two lounges on the 4th floor. The Outter Rim Lounge is open until 10:30 pm, while the Contempo Cafe is open until midnight. The Contempo might be the better option because of the hours. According to the person I talked to at WDW, the ORL has a full service bar while the CC has food, snacks and a bar menu, not as extensive as the ORL. You can order food until 11 pm
I haven't been to either so if someone could provide more info about the two, it would be a big help. I think this should work for us.

Excellent, so we just need a definite place to meet. It's gonna be busy and crowded in that area, not to mention dark. I looked at a satellite map. Maybe the little lakeside area beyond the Grand Floridian boat launch dock? See the spot I marked below.

Also, what about this for a name?
"Take the 'A' Train" Drinks on the Monorail Meet
Jennifer,
That looks like a perfect area to meet. It will be as good of an area as any and a bit isolated from the crowds. I was thinking in the same general area. Wishes will be over by 9:45 so will give til about 10 pm for everyone to gather there. Most of us should be pretty much together for Wishes.
Now do we want to go to the CR to get our drinks and get back on the monorail or hang out a bit in the lounge while the monorail crowds from the MK subside? Another option would be to take the monorail to the Poly, get our drinks at Tambu and on the monorail for a few circuits. Might not be a bad idea with the availability of many tropical drinks here and the monorail theme. May make it more festive I suppose. We will probably have until about 11:15 on the monorail as it shuts down 90 minutes after park closing.
Let me know how you feel about this. I'm open to suggestions from all. Whatever everyone wants and tell us if you're in for this meet. Thanks.

I know a lot of you will be at the MK for Spectro and Wishes on the first night, but if you could let me know if you'll be there for the fun, exhiliarating and captivating Drinks On The Monorail meet let me know.
Although, I'm leaving early in the morning, I should have time to check this thread. If not I'll find a way in WDW. Thanks and can't wait to meet everyone for a Rockin' Good Time in that Most Magical Place.
