Talking Horseback Riding at Fort Wilderness

I was wondering what this is like? I know it is $42 per person for 45 minutes. I was just curious if anyone has done this activity before. I myself have not been on a horse, since I was much younger. My 2 boys, almost 15 and 11, have never done trail riding, so this will be a Disney priceless moment.

Also I was planning to have my kids do the surf-training at Typhoon Lagoon. Also has anyone done this before? I know it is pricey- I think $150 per person, but it is 2 1/2 hours. Both my kids are strong swimmers.

Please let me know your opinions!
Thank you,
Kate in PA

My DD did the trail ride a couple trips ago, and loved it! (She had her own horse, but still enjoyed it a great deal.) They're doing it this trip too; I'll let you know how it went.

My DD and I just did the trail ride. It was really fun. Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there.

We have done the horseback riding twice, and loved it both times. DH actually had the same horse both times! it's a walk-only ride through some scenic trails around FW. The horses are well trained and well cared for. Its a very relaxing WDW activity, I think your boys would really like it!

Just be sure to wear jeans as your inner thighs can become quite chafed from rubbing on the saddle if you wear shorts or thin fabric. Have seen many people go thru this . . . used to ride all the time! Have a blast! Bigred

We did the trail ride a couple of years ago. It was a nice way to relax and have some quiet time away from the parks. The group was not too large. My daughter was 8 years old and the cast members were very re-assuring to her. They did a great job of keeping those weary individuals calm. Have fun if you go.

It seems like a fun way to see around FW Campground!

Thanks everyone for giving me your opinions. One last question- I was hoping to go to Epcot after horseback riding, if I bring my back pack (which is 1/2 the size of a regular one), can I carry it with me? (I have a feeling we may have to go back to the resort to get our stuff so we can head to Epcot.)

I am DEFINITELY making those reservations on December 20th- for our Trip next year! It sounds like a Magical Time with me and the kids!

Have a Great Weekend!
