we will have 2 4yr olds. I thought it would be cool to rent a dbl stroller so they can sit together. I have read some and it looks like pros & cons to renting. What is everyone's advise. we are starying at the poly
I am a fan of bringing my own for the airort and from the point of park exit to hotel. If you are staying at POLY, you will most likely be able to keep the kids in the strollers on the monorail - meaning they can fall asleep in the parks and you won't have to move them until you're in your room. We loved this feature of bringing our own while at WL and using the Ferry boats. Made staying out a little later for DH and me a viable option. If you rent, you will have to carry your sleeping kids from the stroller rental spot to the transportation, ride with sleeping child on your lap, and then carry sleeping child to your room once you get to the resort.
My only concern about renting is I read that they only have a limited # on hand. During busy times they may sell out, so I think we are going to just bring our own to be on the safe side!
My dd is not a big fan of her stroller anymore (she's almost 3). So for us, renting is a great option because she sees it as something new and different (and interesting) and is more likely to stay in the rental stroller than her own stroller. I also think the design rental stroller feels less confining to her. For us, using the stroller at the airport and outside the parks isn't a factor because she wouldn't stay in there anyway.
You are going to get a lot of answers on this one! We rent, but that is because DS5 is too big to ride comfortably in any stroller that we own. The Disney strollers are comfortable for bigger kids - DS9 spent a little time riding (when he got tired of walking) when he was 7. DS5 was too big for our strollers when he was 4, so if you are going to bring strollers from home, make sure your children are comfortable in them for an extended period of time. We tried ours at the zoo a few months before WDW, and our little one was miserable. That's when we decided to rent. Good luck!
I am planning on bringing my own! I have 3 kids! 7, 4 & 2! I have even found a way to strap and umbrealla stroller to my bigger light weight one so if DD (4) needs it I will have it! But if DS (7) ends up needing one I will end up haveing to rent! So I guess I am no help! Sorry! I just thought about DS (7) legs! Oh Bad Mommy! LOL
I have brought our own, last year my then 3 yr old, used it rarely, we also brought a harness for him, hed rather walk then sit in the stroller, and he had the best time exploring. I have been going back and forth with bringing our own for our next trip next year or just renting one. There are pros and cons for each side. I hated lugging it around with us at the airport but it did help out there too. Then lugging it on the bus along with everything else. I still have alot of debating to do about this one before our next trip

This happened to us when we were there a few years ago. I'm thinking, hey he's too big for a stroller (he was 6) and I'll just rent one when I get there if he becomes cranky. Well, halfway through the day that's exactly what happened, he got cranky and didn't want to walk anymore so I went to rent one and they were sold out. It wasn't even really crowded so we had to leave the park. NO fun with a cranky child.
Now I have three toddlers twin 5 year old boys and a two year old girl and my then 6 year old son is now 11 and my lesson is learned. I didn't want to bring my bulky double stroller so I purchased and umbrella one from Walmart for $89 since we also frequent another amusement park here Six Flags Great Adventures every year and I can use it there and trips to the mall as well. I'm bringing my two year old's regular stroller since she is comfortable in it.
Another thing, if you do decide to rent, please bring a soft blanket because those seats are plastic and get very hot. I had to put my jacket on the seat to keep it from burning my son. That is if they still have those hard plastic strollers. The one plus though is they were easier to push to me then my regular stroller. Although, I didn't have it with me to compare. It could have been that it looked heavier than it actually was.
I wanted to add that there is an awesome unbrella stroller made by Jeep that I bought a few years back and still use to this day. I think it was only around $40 at Toys r Us and it is the best umbrella stroller I have ever owned.
Not only does it look really cool, but the handles come up higher and are cushioned so you don't get tired of bending over to push it and it also has the rotating wheels so you can manuever through crowds and around corners easily. I also like that in the seat area for the kid, you can roll up the waterproof fabric so that if it is really hot outside the child can basically sit in a comfy mesh seat and get some air flow. My son really liked it when I would transform his stroller into beach mode! LOL

Good luck with your decision!
That's the exact one that I have but it's a double umbrella stroller.
Anyway, let us know which you decided even if it's in your trip report. Good luck!
I think you can ask 20 people this one and get 21 answers.
We brought our own when DD was 2 and again when she was 5. I bought a stroller on clearance at Target for less than half what it would have cost us to rent.
We switched to rentals when DD was 6 and we only needed it at Epcot.
I liked having ours because it was easier to find in a crowd; it was padded and comfy for DD; we had it at the resort, Sea World and Kennedy Space Center; DH thought it was easier to control and navigate than the rentals.
The rental option was great because we didn't have to check the stroller; we didn't have to navigate around it in the hotel room; we didn't have to deal with it on the busses. However, the single was a little tight even for DD who isn't a wide kid -- I think she would have been happier in a double.
