We actually have a total of 4 Disney cards (dad had one before he died but they switched it to mom's name after, mom has her own in addition and Lenny and I both have our own accounts too) in our family so I don't think it's any harder to get than any other card. I don't remember how we applied for our but I know I've applied for other cards online and gotten the same kind of answer - unable to process - some I got the card, others I was denied.

It sounds like their system was down. Just to be sure, I would give them a call. The staff are always super nice . I wouldn't wait. I'd call that way you can make other plans if it doesn't come through.
Tip: card holders can change their credit card picture once a year for free. After that there is a charge.
DH got the same message and then received the card in the mail a few weeks later. I on the other hand, had a Chase Mastercard, so I called them and had them switch my account to a Disney Visa!
i can tell you with much certainty because i have extensive knowledge and experience with credit (bureaus and banks alike) that Chase is not an easy card to get (there are unsecured cards that are quite easier) but it's also not one of the hardest ones (Discover pretty much holds that title minus specific cards like AmEx Black).
but on the flip side, Chase will do okay by you unless you end being late with payments in which case they're notorious for ratejacking, but they're not alone in that biz either. and most every bank supports universal default which means they actively check your credit report and if a late shows up, they will ratejack you too (banks typically check credit with 1 bureau but report to all 3)
I didn't get instant approval either. I didn't understand the message but I got the card within two weeks.
I didn't know you could transfer a Chase credit card to a Disney card. Darn. Now I two and I only use the Disney one now. The first one I had didn't give any sort of rewards. What great information I get on these boards!
I recieved mine online about two years ago but I have also applied for a card online and been told need more information and then recieved the card within a few weeks...

I recently consolidated my cards into one with Chase. You can call and speak to a CS rep and discuss the options. Wasn't hard - took about 10 minutes on the telephone. Good luck.
