so i have always taken my video camera on my WDW vacations and i think i have more footage of disney than disney every time i go i seem to take more and more with most films being 3-4 hours by the time i have edited them. this time i go i have i good P+S camera and my dad has his DSLR camera so i wasnt planning on taking my video camera but do you think i will regret not taking it? i cant decide!
I've taken a video camera once and only a regular cold camera the other times. I'd say take it along. If you decide you want to take it along, at least you'll have it with you. If not it can hang out in your hotel room.
One of advantages of not taking the video is you get see the parks properly and not through a viewer. My DH said it was amazing what you missed when you are videoing.
I thnk it is personal choice. Do you watch the video when you get back. We tend to look at photos and not the video we have taken.

For me, when I videotape something, I feel like I'm watching it on tv and I'm missing the magic! We took a video camera to the parks one year, and after one day it stayed in our hotel room for this very reason - plus my family hardly watches home videos as it is so those tapes are never seen. We do take a TON of pictures, and these are displayed everywhere. To me pictures are more appreciated and therefore the video isn't needed. Good luck on your decision!
yes and no , i always bring the camcorder but 85% of the time i forget it in the resort. i always bring the camra even tho i miss some things with camcorder we make up with the camara it all depends on you .
No, leave it home. It's better to see the magic through your own eyes or the eyes of the children rather than through a viewfinder. Still photos are a whole different story
We still bring our video camera even though we have tons of WDW footage. We are very selective with what we tape and don't even carry it the whole time we're touring. For example, on our last trip I knew I wanted to get the opening cermony at MK, CRT and 1900 PF on tape so we only carried our video camera on our MK day and to the GF for dinner.
I bring it so I can record the stage show (it's so much better to rewatch it and hear DD squealing and screaming and hollering at Mickey, lol), and I record a parade and a fireworks show. I'll also record DD interacting with characters.
I personally don't mind using a camcorder - I don't feel like I'm missing anything. It's not like I have it attached to my head the entire time, lol. Just for 10-15 minutes a day. Besides I see the parade / fireworks every day at the park. Taking time to record them one night is worth it so DD can rewatch it over and over again at home.
The bottom line here is whether or not you rewatch the videos at home. If you don't - don't bother. If you do, bring it. It's worth it for the memories. I hope my grandkids can enjoy the videos of their mommy meeting Mickey for the first time, dancing with Donald, etc...
