Should we Cruise or Stay!

Once we decided we would do Disney we had to make the next hard decision.

3day park 4 day sea Cruise or 5 days in the park! They both are about the same if we stay at AKL for the 5 day and with the cruise we can stay at AKL. Our worry/concern was that the kids woudn't want to leave the park. And I want to have time to the Princess Breakfast.

Some good friends did the cruise and had a blast. They raved about all the stuff for kids to do and how parent could leave them but I want to enjoy our vaca as a family and not leave my kids with babysitters the whole trip.

I know some of you have done both. Our kids are/will be 9,7 and 5. This will most likely be our only trip to Disney as we live in AK and airfare is expensive.
But that being said the kids would love the pools and warm weather and visiting the port of call with the beach and everything is fun for AK kids especially living in rural AK.

oooo, that's a hard decision! If you do 3 days at WDW, are you talking about 3 full days? Or are they 2 half days(travel days) & 1 full day? Either, you wouldn't be able to see all of WDW, if it's 3 full days you could do 3 parks, but you won't see everything. With your childrens ages, and it being a one time thing at WDW, I would be inclined to say do 5 days at WDW. I don't think your kids will want to leave the parks either, lol! I don't want to leave the parks Can you do a cruise another time? Have you asked the kids what they prefer? Order the WDW planning DVD for them, it's lots of fun to watch. Good luck with your decision!

If it's going to cost about the same, then I'd go for the cruise and stay option.

We did the land and sea package and kinda felt shortchanged. There is so much to do both places, we were always on the go. If you want to take advantage of being together more, then my opinion would be to stay at WDW without the cruise. Your kids are the perfect ages to have a great time at WDW. Save up and do the cruise another time.

I agree! With travel time, getting on and off the ship, in and out of the hotel room, I think you feel rushed on the land & sea vacation. I would choose one or the other so you have time to relax and enjoy it!

That is a tough call but if it's potentially your only visit to WDW then I'd say spend the 5 days at WDW. I think you'll have a better park exerience that way, be able to see all of the parks, enjoy the dining and get some down time. As for the cruise, it is great but to do both, I think you'd be rushed. The potential exists for one of the Disney ships to make more West Coast apppearances when the two new ships start sailing in 2011 and 2012. Maybe you could cruise Disney style then.

I would go with the stay at WDW! You said yourself you want to spend time together and this is possibly a once in a life time. Although there is a lot to do on the cruise, if your family has never been to enjoy the Magic of Disney World, I would spend all your time there!

We loved the land and sea vacation. we did not feel rushed at all. It was great to know that you're able to do so much. We did not have any children w/ us so this may not be applicable to you and your family. I say go for the cruise you won't be disappointed!

I'd do 5 days in the parks. The cruise is wonderful, but if this may be your only trip to WDW I say take the time and do everything you want to do at the parks.

Since this is your one and only visit for awhile to WDW I vote you just do the parks. You can take a hot-weather cruise out of CA which is much less travel time for your family at another time. I don't think you have enough time budgeted to do both this trip. good luck.

I would do the cruise, personally. If this will be your ONLY trip, then you can get plenty done during your 3 park days if you really plan carefully, and there's no substitute for a cruise!! Cruising is hands down the best way to travel, and it would give your kids a nice experience, trying out a couple of ports.

Good luck deciding! Either way you can't lose!
