We will be in WDW Dec 19-23 which is after the last MVMCP date. Did I read somewhere that the same activities that happen during the party also happen during Christmas time (week of and week after) such as special shows, parades and fireworks? The party looks like so much fun but we can't arrive until the kids get out of school for their break.
The Xmas parade is moved to the day time, this past year it was at noon and 3pm. The shows take place throughout the day. The Mickey's night before christmas was really cute! It doesn't snow on main street but everything is decorated really beautifully. The characters are in holiday outfits, and you hear xmas tunes around the park. The crowds are definetly present as you get closer to xmas but you are only there until the 23rd so you should be fine. We went last year the 20th until the 27th and until the 24th it wasn't bad at all. It wasn't like a wasteland but it was not jam packed either. It was quite manageable. The closer you get to your trip, check out this site: Walt Disney World Live Entertainment
It updates weekly but it should tell you when the shows are for the week you are there. Have a fantastic trip! You will love Xmas at Disney!
The Christmas parade starts in the afternoon the day after the last Christmas Party has been held. Until then, it's the regular parade in the afternoons.
I also highly recommend the Holiday Storytellers in Epcot - each World Showcase pavilion has a costumed cast member who gives a 10-15 min presentation on how Christmas, New Year's or other seasonal holidays are celebrated in their country.
On a different note, I'm wondering where Disney is going to hold the Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas show, now that the Galaxy Theater in Tomorrowland is gone.
I think you will find plenty of Holiday Entertainment! Like the others said, you will be able to catch the parade in the afternoon and the Osborne Lights will be lit at the studios as well. The resorts are all decorated, go see the gingerbread house at the GF. There is so much too do and so little time!
I wouldn't worry that you are missing the party one bit! Have fun!
There are so many great things to do at Christmas time!! The MK parade is great. Epcot has all sorts of fun things to see and do, mainly at WS. If I remember correctly, there was a times info sheet included with the park map that told you where/when to go. Also, don't miss the gingerbread house at the GF! Have fun - we'll be there too!!
