Am I crazy?? Need your opinions

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question. I will be giong to WDW for the first time September 26th for a week, just me, DH & DD who will be 2. We are currently staying at ASMovies. Would I be absolutely crazy to upgrade to a delux resort for our last night? I was going to suprise my husband but didn't know how much of a pain it would be to move all of our luggage and other stuff for just one night. Has anyone else ever done this? I was thinking Animal Kingdom Lodge. I know Emma won't know the differnece except that she would like the animals but DH would love it. He wanted to stay there for our whole trip but we can't afford it. Thanks ahead of time for your thoughts.

Honestly, I wouldn't. I've had the same thoughts as you, but decided against it. You can get a special souvenir like your picture etched into a crystal at Epcot, or a leave a legacy tile, or just something really special. I wouldn't take time out of your last day to switch resorts.

Were you planning on skipping parks your last night and just handing at the resort?

I wouldn't do it for one day, but maybe for 2. You wouldn't get that much time in the room/at the resort unless you weren't doing parks that day. You could theoretically just be in your room from 3pm until noon the next day. Doesn't seem worth the hassle.

Why not have a dinner at Boma or Jiko? I would like to stay there also, but we are staying 8 nights and the price is too much for us. We have a dinner at Boma so we are going to explore the resort.

I say why not? Especially if it will be a while til your next trip. It's easy to move resorts - just pack and have bell services relocate your luggage while you're at a park, and then go to AKL when you're done and check in and have your luggage sent to your room!

I would, however, plan on only a half park day on that last day, so you can make the most of your time at AKL and enjoy the amenities / explore / have dinner at Boma.

Good luck deciding!!

I wouldn't for just one night, but I might for 2. Definately have dinner at Boma and visit the resort, though.

How much of a "nester" are you?
How easy would it be to pack up one of your suitcases so it would last you for the single night and next day?

If it's something that will thrill your husband (and YOU!), then the effort really isn't that much as long as you plan it out well.

I think I'd do it... (but, personally, I'd use the money I'd've spent on the AKL to upgrade the value resort to a moderate resort for the whole trip. I can't live without the hottubs anymore! )

I second Eileen's idea...why not look into booking a Mod for the whole trip? Something to consider!

But if not, as someone who always does split stays, well, do what will make you happy! I do have to say though that checking out, transferring, and checking into the second hotel always takes us longer than I think it will (it's not hard though).

Good luck with your decision!

I agree, I wouldn't do it for one night, and if you are doing it for two, make the "full day" there a day you can spend enjoying the resort.

We stayed at AKL for two nights on our first trip, and let Disney move our luggage. This time, however, we just booked dinner at Sanaa and an evening at Simba's Cubhouse for the kids. Gives us a reason to wander around the resort without paying the room rates! Your dd is too young for the kids' clubs? Boma is very kid-friendly, and you could schedule it so you can go to the story-telling at the firepit, and go out and observe the animals at Arusha Rock. I also like the suggestion of upgrading to a mod for the whole time rather than one night at a deluxe.

We managed to get 7 nights at CSR when we wanted 8, so I may be moving for one night if I can't change that. Not looking forward to it, but if we do, it'll just be a place to stop, and I'll pack most of our bags before we move, and try to arrange it with one "travel" bag we can work out of.

Good luck working it out!

Thanks everyone. I really think I am going to look into the price difference for the moderate for the whole week. I can't believe I didn't think of that myself...but that is why I have all of you to think for me!!! Which would you stay at then? CB or CS? thanks again
