I know before I left for my trip someone asked this question. We stayed at WL so it is a water area, the bugs were swarming. At night the lamp post at the dock were covered. One man told me they couldnt sit on the boat that the seats were covered by mosquitoes. I got bit several times. I took one of thoes off personal fan things and had it on the table on the balcony and that did help even though it was so small. I think I got bit on the walk from the dock. So take bug stuff if you are going this time of year.

We stayed at CBR and one night we went and layed in the hammocks on the beach and never encountered any bugs. Now those little lizards thats another story. We saw those everywhere.
The only bugs we have had issues with were the "love" bugs. We encountered them twice in September. They don't bite but DS1 had/has issues with flying bugs so it was irritating...
Are the lovebugs a yearly issue in September? DH and I have regularly visited in October-December and haven't had any regular critter issue....I hate bugs, esp. ones that fly.
Oh gosh guess I am glad the bugs were just outside and not cockroaches like one traveler encountered. Next time I think I am just going to use the wipes on myself at night.

The love bugs appear in May and Sept. Some years they are not as much as an issure as others, it varies. When we were there a few years ago in Sept. they were all over the place, they don't bite but boy are they annoying. We sometimes had to keep our mouths closed so we weren't eating them. It was discusting and we would avoid those months because of them. Our car is still marked up by their little corpses!!! YUCK
