Childcare at Disney

Okay, so my wife and I would like to have at least a few hours of time to ourselves while we are at WDW and have seen the information in Passporter about the childcare programs at WDW.

- Has anyone done this? We are staying at the AKL so we would be using Simba's Clubhouse.
- How far in advance do you have to call for reservations?
- What were your impressions?

We like the fact that no adults are allowed in , only Castmembers and the kids.

DD went to the Neverland Club at the Poly three times during our last trip and she absolutely loved it!!! She's still talking about it . Even though we're staying at GF this trip we still booked her over at Neverland Club instead of the GF's club just because she talks about it all the time.

The staff was wonderful and I felt very secure leaving her there. She was always happy and wanting to stay longer when we got there at pick-up time.

We reserved one evening about 60 days ahead and then got two more reservations day-of once we were on-site (and realized how much she liked it!).

I'd say if you're going at a busy time, book as soon as you know what your plans are but in our experience during a quieter time (end of April), we had no problem with a last-minute booking. But better safe than sorry, right?

Our DS(8) has stayed at the one (can't remember the exact name...Cub Club maybe?) at Wilderness Lodge. He had a really fun time. His favorite thing was computer games, but he also made some friends there and was playing with them when we came to get him. He said he'd definitely be willing to go back. We made our reservations at about 90 days out, right after we made our dining res. We wouldn't have had to, it wasn't full that night, but I just felt comfortable making sure that we would definitely have a spot for him on our "parent's night out."

Both of my kids stayed at Simba's Club House several years ago. I think DD had just turned 4 (and was JUST potty trained!) and DS was 8. They both had a blast. They had dinner there and loved all of the activities, from arts & crafts to computer games. It felt like a very secure environment and we were given pagers.

Now granted, DH and I only ventured to Jiko without ever leaving the premises, but it was wonderful to have a nice dinner alone while the kids were having fun. I highly recommend reserving the service as soon as you can. I saw many disappointed parents turned away.
