So next Wednesday is my 20th wedding anniversary and I haven't gotten my dh anything yet I really have been racking my brain and coming up short. So yesterday I got an epiphany - go to WDW! That is where I wanted to go on my honeymoon, but we went to Jamaica instead. But I've never spent $$$ without consulting dh, neither of us do and I'm feeling nervous that he will be, I don't know worried about the kids, money, ?, and I know you don't know him so you wouldn't know either but I'm wondering if anyone here has done this and what was the reaction?
We have 3 day passes left from when non-expiration was included (remember those days ?) and we have a $100 Southwest credit from last year so I feel like a good part of the trip is paid for (Disney math you know ) We could stay at Pop for $300, but do I really want to stay at Pop for my anniversary trip? We would arrive late on May 9 (11 PMish) and we could stay there that night and then 2 nights at WL Club level for $877 or at BLT with a theme park view for $904 (he always like the Contemporary and we've never stayed there) or King bed room for our entire trip at POR for $527. We don't drink alcohol so the club level thing, I don't know, it would probably be mostly for breakfast I guess (or not, is it more?) I guess really it's between POR and BLT, any opinions? I can't believe I'm so indecisive about this!
Then there's the whole food thing. Actually I was thinking about AKL ($759) and doing the sunset safari, but staying at BLT and having a romantic dinner at the CG sounds heavenly (if we can even get in at this late date!) What are your special dinner places?
I surprised my DH with a trip to DW for his 30th birthday MANY moons ago. He wasn't mad at all, but he is a Disney fiend! I think given that you already have the passes, and have a good contribution toward the airline piece, GO FOR IT!
We also did Jamaica for our honeymoon 20 years ago, and I wish we'd gone to Disney World! We are going on a Disney Cruise for our 20th.
POR is very nice - and since it's a bit less, why not book there, but then do a romantic dinner at CG or someplace?
Have fun planning, and I hope he's thrilled! I would be.

I think it's a really neat idea! My DH would be a little worried, but since I do all the vacation planning and money saving, he would most likely just let it go at that figuring that I have it all covered! What about POFQ? It would save a little $$, plus there are carriage rides and the boat ride. Those are both very nice. And you could still be a little more romantic than POP, but not as expensive as BLT or wherever. Just a thought! I haven't ever eaten at CG, so I don't have any input there. Have fun making your plans!
Thanks everyone for your input, it was very helpful. I've decided to go for it. I'm booking POR with a king. The Cali Grill is completely booked but I think we'll try Artist Point for dinner one night and The Brown Derby for lunch the next, Princess Sharon's trip report with the crab cake and Cobb salad had me
