I wouldn't mind taking shorter, more budgetted trips more often, but because our airfare is a great portion of our expense, we take longer, less frequent trips. In between, we save up our Disney Visa Rewards and Earn SW Rapid Rewards Tickets. If we went more frequently, we'd never have enough time to save up many rewards.

We area always budgeted. This year however, I have my husband talked into going to Disney. He hasn't been since the introduction of Epcot. ( He's in for a surprise.) I'm trying to be smart and stay at the values. But I'm so tempted to do Contemporary cause thats the place my hubby stayed last, so I thought it would be special. I dunno, still torn.

Another vote for budget trips more often. I am always looking for deals, so sometimes we are able to stay at nicer resorts for not much more than the cheaper ones. Enjoy your upcoming trip!

We do budget trips (value resorts) but (as another poster also mentioned) because of our large family we have to get two value rooms and spend a lot on tickets and food totaling an amount that other families probably spend on "fancy" trips. Even going "budget" we are unable to go yearly. We are not taking any big vacations this summer and instead are saving towards next years "big" trip - Disney cruis to Alaska. It will likely be 2012 before we return to Disney.....

Disney is wonderful and definitely our "Happy Place"... My youngest daughter wanted to know "Why can't we just live here?" at the end of our trip when she was five... BUT you will make fond memories where ever you go... I love the fact that our two teens still like hanging out with Mom & Dad! Relish the time!

I have to be honest, we've been spoilt by being DVC members and are now resort snobs. We'll always go for a deluxe and would rather go less frequently and spend more money on those trips.

Do what is best for you and your DD. DH and I have always felt that taking vacations together are very important. We both work (DH works in the marine industry so he works long hours and many days during April - October) so for us, having that planned time away from our work is high on our lists. That being said, we usually plan to take two vacations of some sort each year. Disney usually ends up being one of them because we can go rather inexpensively by staying in a Value or SOG and we know that the "Values" or SOG will be safe and clean. Sometimes we do feel a little guilty about it as we know we should be saving money for our futures also. However, we budget for it so it usually works out just fine. Since you have the option of going to the Jersey Shore this summer, you and your DD are getting away together which is what is important. Have a great summer.

Oooh, that is a tough one! Assuming that the length of time was the same, I think I would go for a budget trip every year. Although I do love the deluxes!

I'd rather go every year and go budget but the rest of my family likes deluxe every other year option.

This is a difficult question....I kind of plan ahead vacation trips and try to do the most of my money....like go on value season, apply for a discount code when available...but in the other hand I do love some amenities. I´d travel every two year and pay all debits...

If you had asked me this a year ago I would have said a fanicer trip every other year. Last year I had a fancier trip and now I am planning a budget trip for this year. My DH just said if we get a good bounce back during this trip to go ahead and book for next year. LOL looks like I am spending some time in disney.

but in your case I would go on a fancier trip every 2 years and pay off some debt.

Being the practical one in our family, I would have to pay off the debt before going to Disney. We are lucky to have the DVC or we wouldn't be able to go every year.

The more often we can go, the better! I'd rather be there often and not spend a lot on the resort.
