Sending a Package to Yourself @ WDW

I think I've seen something on this topic before, but I can't find it now. Is it possible to ship a package to yourself so that it is waiting for you when you arrive at WDW? I'm thinking about mailing my non-perishable snacks and other "disposable" items so that they don't take up so much room in our luggage. Just wondering where I would send them, how they should be labeled and how far in advance is acceptable.

Any help will be appreciated!

I never do that but if I remember correctly, you would mail it to arrive approximately a day or so before you get there directly to your hotel with your name and reservation # on the box. They will hold it for you there. Someone else with more experience I am sure will chime in but there are quite a few people who do mail stuff there.

I do this to help save room in my suitcase. I send a box, usually via Priority Mail Fixed Price (this way I can track the package and know exactly when it was delivered and who signed for it), with snacks, breakfast bars, cereal, etc. (nothing that will melt in the FL heat, such as chocolate or candy) ahead of time. I have it arrive about a day or two before I do. Once I know it has arrived, I call and confirm with the resort's guest services desk that they have the package and will hold it for my arrival the next day. If they say they do not have it, you can tell them who signed for it and on what day & time it was signed for.

Make sure you not only include your name, but include your resort confirmation number and arrival date.

This is how I address my boxes:

Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Attn: Jane Doe (incoming guest) - Confirmation #: 123456
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

I also mark on the box:

Please hold for guest arrival on October 31, 2010.

Have never had a problem doing it this way.

I agree to definitely make sure you address the package with your name and the following language, "Hold for guest arrival MM/DD/YY" (with your check in date).

I don't think I would put your reservation confirmation on the package for security reasons.

Anyone with that information (as well as your name and address that are also on the box!) could potentially alter your ressie, etc.

The arrival date and your name should be enough for them to find your shipment once you arrive/claim it.

DH and I are doing this this year as well and I'm super excited to have a lighter load to schlep around the airport!

That sounds like a really great idea. I knew that they did this, but it sounds like a great way to save some room (and weight!) in your suitcase.

I would ship your box 1 week before your arrival. Make sure your address includes your date of arrival and your ressie #. I would also write your name on all 4 sides of your box. Makes it easier for them to locate your box in the luggage hold area

There's a charge if you ship to a convention resort

Remember to put your name and address inside the package in case the package is lost, damaged and unable to forward because the outside address is missing.
