3 Trips in 1 year......

Ok so I need some advice. I was just in Disney in May 2010 for my honeymoon and I have a trip booked for December 12-17th 2010. We are booked at the Contemporary. My mom and I are thinking about taking a last minute trip September 1st - 6th and take advatage of the free dinning. So my question is.....should I down grade our resort from the contemporary to the all star music resort in December so I can take a third trip in a month or so.....or should I bag the trip for September and keep my reservation at the contemporary. This is what my year and trips would look like:

May 2010 stayed at CBR
September 2010 would stay at POP
December 2010 would stay at All Star Music

OR

May 2010 stayed at CBR
December 2010 stay at Contemporary

Thanks!

You're going to get some divergent advice on this one! A lot of folks on here are big fans of the value resorts as a result of the economy or budgets or just personal taste. So, I think the prevailing attitude is if you can spend less and go more often, do it. I don't fall into that camp. Even though I'm not in my hotel room that much, I want to come home to a room that's large and comfortable and to a resort that's well appointed and offers lots of amenities. So, my advice would be to keep the CR and enjoy its location, luxury, restaurants, history, and theming.

As a potential compromise, could you possibly extend your December stay by just one night? It might not work, and it wouldn't be the same as an additional trip, but you'd get one more day/night of Disney magic in one of the best resorts on property.

I'm going to side with Winston on this one. With three trips so close together, you may not need to spend so much time in the parks and the value resorts don't have a lot to offer in terms of entertainment or comfort. I know I might be called a resort snob, but I didn't enjoy the All Stars at all. Too many groups, too loud, too small, and the busses were awful; overcrowded and the stops were always the furthest from the entrance of each park.

If those are your only two choices, I'd stick with the Contemporary stay in Dec. You obviously look forward to staying there or you wouldn't have reserved it. I think you'll end up disappointed if you downgrade to a value, even if it means another trip earlier.

My motto is: A day at Disney is better than a day anywhere else! So I'd vote for three trips. I had three trips in 2008 (totalling twenty-something days)--it was awesome! One trip was with my extended family, one with just my husband and one with just my parents. Best year ever!

I am torn. I love the thought of staying at the Contemporary! And since you were just there in May.....your December trip is not that far away!
But, three trips in one year!! That is exciting!
But, I think if it were me, I would probably go with the original plan of staying at the CR in December.
What does your mom want to do?

I would stick with the Contemporary. I know how tempting an extra trip is because my dh and I just priced out free dining for December to try to squeeze in MVMCP, but I'd rather use that money elsewhere in the long run. Enjoy your trip in December because I'm sure it will be amazing

I do totally get why you want to do 3 trips though. We're doing 3 trips in a year with the 4th a little outside the year mark. It wasn't supposed to happen like that, but I really wanted to run the Princess Half Marathon

I've done 3 trips in one year and it was the best year ever!!! However we stayed in a moderate. It's a hard decision.

Personally I'd choose 3 trips in one year. However if you plan to spend time in your resort I'd stick with just the December and scratch the September trip.

My mom was just in Disney at the end of June but we are both Disney fanatics and she really wants to go in September again too. This would be her 2nd trip in a year if we go in September.

While 3 trips in a year would be awesome, 2 trips in a year is pretty great, too. For me, I would prefer to stay at the CR in December - it is beautiful at Christmas! I am a fan of the CR - great location, fun atmosphere. If you have not stayed here before I would choose that.

You can't go wrong with either plan. Lots of WDW in your future!

I, too, would vote for sticking with the CR in December. I'd rather stay at a deluxe and enjoy all the amenities...plus it's on the monorail, which is very convenient, too! Good Luck deciding!
