I am making my ADRs and was wondering if I should be counting my 2 year old as a guest since we need a high chair? The reason I am asking is because on our last day we can't get into a character breakfast with 3 guests, but we can with 2, so can I still reserve and ask for a high chair when we get there? (we are going to Cape May Cafe). I did count him in all other ADRS.
I would call back and tell them you want a reservation for two adults and a baby under two, rather than saying three. See if that gets you what you want. GOOD LUCK!
I think when mine was young I used to say under 3 and the included him in the ADR I also said we needed a high chair . You can also request a high chair when you do your adrs online. If I were you I would see what they say...if they say you have to do as 3 I would call back and just say two and hope for the best when you get there. Good luck and enjoy!!

The baby does need to be included in the head count.
There are fire codes that dictate a restaurant capacity.
Not all tables can take the last minute add-on. For example, a four-top pushed against a wall only seats 3 and they account for that in booking.

Thanks for asking this question - I was just going to make some reservations and I was wondering the same thing for my daughter who will be 10 months on our trip! Good luck with your planning!

It has to do with fire laws, so it's best to tell them the number of bodies, not number of diners.
Now... if nothing for 3 is available, you could take a chance and book it for two, but show up to the restaurant and tell them you have the baby, and they will work around it as best they can to find you an appropriate table. Just be polite, show up early, and be patient while they work it out, you might just get lucky.

My cousin traveled with a very young baby and she wore her in a sling but they said she still needed to count the baby in the reservation for fire codes reasons. But, like Eileen said, they are usually very accommodating so just be polite and arrive early and most times they can shift things around for you.
