New Disney Premier Visa Card
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but was wondering if anyone has actually found the Disney card to be an advantage for savings. This card says you can earn 2% cashback (on some purchases) towards park tx, resort stays, etc. I asked this question a while back, but at the time decided against it. Now with the possibility to earn points faster (and the $100 statement credit!), we are thinking about it again. Would love some opinions on this. I would see using the card on purchases, paying it off every month to avoid finance charges, and then redeeming the points towards maybe the meal plan or something for our December trip. Is there any "fine print"() I should know of first that would really limit use of the points? Has anyone actually used racked up a significant amount of points that made a difference in the cost of a trip? Thanks!
You need to look at the CC offer not in terms of Disney $, but in terms of overall cashback reward potential. Compare the Disney deal to, say, the current Southwest card deal - might end today, but it has been offered in past too.
I got 50k rapid rewards points on Southwest for a $69 annual fee. The 50k points were enough for me to get 7 free one-way flights (they claim two free on their marketing material) from Hartford to Orlando - which was worth $875!
So, without spending anything, I'm well ahead of the Disney card option, though long term, the Disney card will keep paying you 2%, whereas I only get 1% in RR points.
As soon as I saw the annual fee, I threw it in the trash. Right now, I have just redeemed the points on the regular Visa Disney card and for our upcoming trip in April (5 years accumulating, mind you!), we have almost 2,200 points! I'll be happy with that, and take that any day. It seems worth it to me, to keep my current Visa card!
I find that by the time you pay the annual fee its not really worth it. I have the regular disney visa and I use it like a debit card and just pay it off at the end of the month. This way I get the points and dont have to pay the interest.
