I will be heading down to the world in 2013 and arriving on Jan 2nd. Does anyone know when all the Christmas decorations are taken down? Is there anything else that will still be on at this date such as the Osbourne lights?
I have always wanted to visit WDW at Christmastime however this trip I will be going with some 1st time visitors. So instead have opted to go to New York first and then visit WDW when the crowds aren't as high so we can fit more in!
We went January 6-17, 2010 and all the decorations were still up when we git there. However, the Osboure lights were not going and there were no Christmas parties going. Overnight (I believe on the 11th) all the decorations were taken down.
So I would think the decorations may still be up for at least part of your trip but I wouldn't count on seeing the Osboure lights.
You have to look at a calendar and determine when most guests will end their holiday vacation. Generally, Disney will probably begin taking things down by the weekend after New Years Day.
In 2013, New Years Eve is on a Monday. It's likely that people will continue their vacations at least a few days past that -- they may even stay through the next weekend.
We were there in 2010 for marathon weekend (Jan 8-9 I believe it was) and there were still trees and decorations up in all of the parks. They still had Christmas music playing too, which was started to drive me a little batty by that point! LOL
