Good I am not sure about the one's i pick up at my local super market. But I do see on WDW site they are refillable but I enjoy picking up a 25.00 one each week because I like all the designs on them. If I hand them out to the Dkid's when we get there for the arcade or snack's, etc. I know they each are a value of 25.00 .. I'm hoping it will get them thinking about how they want to spend their extra money (they won't need to know I have so many)

This change comes from Tips and money found by the register that people drop when paying LOL.
I also save the change and I cash in soda bottles

The only bad thing about credit card gift cards is when you use them to pay at Disney they can't tell how much is left on them. Let's hope I can explain this well. At our trips end we had a few visa cards left. We went to the store to buy a few things. I knew each of my remaining cards had less than 10 dollars on them. I figured they'd swipe one card, empty it and then swipe another until my bill was paid or I had to use cash. Each card was rejected because it wouldn't cover the bill and nobody knew the card balances. The cashier could have stood there typing in arbitrary amounts for the cards until they would be accepted (ie typed in 3.00 and if the card had 3.01 on it 3 would finally be taken off the bill) but that's crazy. We ended up looking the balances up online and then were able to tell the cashiers the card amounts, but what a hassle! The Disney cards do show a balance and are way less annoying!

Good information... I have only purchased Disney Gift Cards.. So those will show the balance available. I can see where the other card's can be annoying, Thanks for the information now i know I will stick to the Disney cards.

.....since I do my business banking at TD Bank....and TD Bank is ALWAYS asking me, "Would you like a "piggy-bank" for your change"? I have one in the kitchen, one near my office desk in the basement...and one next to my bed...and they ALL get filled in a years time. Last year....the banks "donated" a bit over $500 ...to the "WDW or Bust Fund". Basically it paid for gas, tolls, and some of the one night hotel hotel stay. It's amazing how much change you can take out of your pocket in one year.!!

I did the same thing on our last trip in January....I got a $25 gift card every time I did my grocery shopping. I also made a habit if I ever got a $5 bill, it got put back into my "stash". I did this for almost a year so I had a nice little bundle put back for shopping....and I had a ball spending it!

As soon as I get my darn taxes back I have committed to doing this as well. However I read that you can buy a Disney gift card and recharge that instead of carrying around multiple cards which I know I would lose. So I am hoping to be able to do that. I have never done the gift card idea in all my years of Disney traveling we plan to use our giftcards for our dining as we are not doing the dining plan this time around.

I just wanted to let you all know, this is taken from the FAQ on the Disney Gift Cards page....

"Disney Gift Cards can be reloaded at any Disney location that sells Disney Gift Cards. Online reloads are not available at this time."

https://www.disneygiftcard.com/faq/#q2

Please note...it says "at any Disney location that sells...". So they can only be filled at Disney Stores or parks. Grocery stores, Pharmacies, and Club Stores sell them, but can not reload them because they are not a Disney location.

I am starting to save on DGc's and also my daughter got one of the tootsie roll banks (they are like $1, and she got one for christmas) and decorated it. I then took it to work and a couple of my co-workers put all their loose change in it every day after lunch. Most of it is pennies but they add up (and they are from others to her not us to her).

Ok, here's my question. If, say, I go to my local Walgreen's and buy a Disney gift card, can I then take that one back to have additional amounts added on to it...that is before I even use it the first time? Or, do I have to go to a Disney store to add on to it? For me that would be far less convenient, since there is one Disney Store in my city, and it's not near my home.

sorry if this has been covered already, but I don't think I saw this specific detail

I'd like to do this, but I don't want 20 gift cards to carry with me. Does that make sense?

I was wondering the same thing about purchasing one at my Walgreens it's right around the corner from my house and the nearest Disney store is 45 minutes away. Would love to not have to drive that far an waste and waste gas every month . Can we do the reloads at Walgreens and do you need to hold on to your reciepts to prove you already bought it before and they don't try to double charge me.

Saturday...at the Disney store... the CM told me I could indeed have the Gift card that was purchased there refilled online or over the phone.

I think I will call later today and verify. I hate to think a CM would lie!

I have $600 so far!!!! I usually buy them from walgreens because it is so close to my job but someuse times I save up and order the different ones from disney.com I also like the designs. I think you can use the kttk card with your credit card on file and just pay the balance each evening with the card.....cannot wait for my trip hopefully I will have all the dining paid for
