Ok, so it has been a long time since I have posted. Circumstances have not allowed me to even attempt planning a trip to WDW. Now looking to possibly get there in 2013. Can someone remind me what the best time of year is to visit? Thanks!
A lot of people like the first two weeks of December - all the holiday decorations and activities are in full swing, but crowds and lodging rates are moderate.
January and early February for low rates and low crowds (though the various marathons and half-marathons have increased attendance, and the weather is variable).
The period after Easter and before Memorial Day for weather, moderate rates and moderate crowds (and Flower and Garden Festival).
Holidays and school vacations, because that's the only time the family can vacation.
October for the Food and Wine Festival (though rates and crowds are no longer moderate).
September for low rates and crowds (but it still has summertime heat).
So, which "best" are you looking for?

Our family loves the week between Veterans Day and the week before Thanksgiving...beautiful weather, mild crowds, good rates, short lines. I also really enjoy late October because of the FWF at EPCOT and the MNSSHP at MK (plus not as hot as earlier in the year).
Wow! It is now a toss up of when to go- I remember 2003/2005 we went the last week of October; weather was great and crowds were wonderful. Even the rates were low. No more of that as I see what Dave said! We even went 2008 Spring Break week- crowded but I knew it and dealt with it. It was actually doable.
This trip in June 2012 I know it will be Africa hot. Just give me water, kool treats, and air condition we will be perfectly fine. Plus it wouldn't be tolerable anywhere else, except DISNEY!!
I hope you figure out when you will be coming back to visit. There will be alot of new things for you and your family to see- a VERY GOOD THING!! : )
The FALL! I'd love to go during Food and Wine and I'm lucky that I have done that before - and before I went back to work, I even pulled my kids out of school to go in the fall - but not during a holiday - but now that I'm back at work (teacher) - I'm stuck with Thanksgiving break - lol. SO - IMO - the FALL - during F&W - but not during a school holiay. I'd also really love to go the first two weeks of December - but I don't know how I'm ever going to manage that.

Personally, our favourites are the holiday season, October for the Food and Wine Festival and Halloween Party or early in spring, before it gets too hot, for the Flower and Garden Festival. In each of those times, you get something extra happening, which is why we love going at those times.

My first pick is always October through the week before Thanksgiving week. (We can't go during that time anymore due to my son's football games and practices)
So our second pick is first week in December
Our third pick is last week of April (which is what we are doing in five days)
We enjoy October the best although we do also take a trip Memorial Day week or the first week in June each year also. The last two weeks of October seem to be the best time crowd wise and it is usually nice weather for the Halloween Party and our favorite "Food and Wine Festival". Definitely my favorite time of year for WDW!
