WE have always used 2 way radios in the past, and it has worked phenomenally well, but now we both have cell phones. I was wondering if it is better to do 2 ways for cell phones, not sure about cell reception???
We've never had any issues with cell reception- we have Verizon. Did the two ways once...and that seemed like more of a pain...we were constantly picking up other people's conversations.

Cell phones are the way to go and I've used both the radios and phones while at WDW. We have Verizon and have never had trouble with reception. I don't know what kind of plan you have but just make sure that- if only for the duration of your trip- you have no roaming charges and texting in place. Have. Great time!
Having voicemail and the ability to silence the phone are both excellent.
The 2-way radios were always problematic (back in the day) because we ended up with other guests and their... ahem... playful children on our channels. Plus, they would go off at times we couldn't hear them and we'd have no idea someone in our group was trying to contact us.
I love my cell phone, specifically because of voicemail and the ability to text.
Another vote for cell phones, have never had an issue w/ Verizon reception. BTW, has anyone heard anything about "charging stations" at WDW like they have at DL?
I was going to say that with the latest technology in cell phones, i.e. texts, voicemails (like Eileen mentioned), etc., two-way radios seem a bit unnecessary anymore.
Most people carry a cell phone anyway, so having to keep track of a radio, try to find a spot where it will work without interference, make sure the other person has it on to receive the incoming "call" (most attractions would require it be turned off during its duration), etc., I add another vote for just using a cell phone.
DH and I have had AT&T and, most recently, Virgin Mobile, and have had no issues with reception while in the parks.
I was thinking the cell phones would be better, we have sprint as a carrier, unlimited, no raoming charges will apply nationwide service, but I didnt wanna carry them because they are big, bulky, expensive to replace/repair, and I dont wanna b bothered quite honestly by the outside world and distractions, but i guess the cell phones might b a better idea still pondering?? thank you everyone!!
I didnt wanna carry them because they are big, bulky,
I guess it depends on the cell phone. Mine is small and slim and no problem to cart around. Since it's also my camera, I actually carry less than I did before I had it.
Yeah I guess I am going to try and look for some sealed case that isnt to big and bulky to put it in, its bigger than an iphone, so if i can then I guess we will just do the cell phones if i cant then we will do the 2 ways??? i saw a h20 proof sealed type case either on ebay or amazon maybe that will work ???
