Can you put cash on your room account at check-in?
We already have a credit card on file and plan to keep it on there for our KTTW charges. However, I was just wondering if they allowed you to put cash down on your account when you check-in that could be used before they charge your CC. Hope this makes sense.....LOL. We do it all the time on DCL but didn't know if the resorts had the same option. TIA!
Yes, you can do it at check in or at the concierge desk. You can also use Disney gift cards. You just tell them how much of a credit you would like on the account and you pay that accordingly.
I believe you can. We've paid cash midway through a stay to pay down some of our room charges. There shouldn't be any reason why you can pay the cash up front.
we have done this every yeardon't try to check out last minute if you have money owed to you It always takes a while to get someone to get cash to give back to you.
I've used cash, Disney Dollars, and Disney Gift Cards to enable charging on my KTTW card. Any unspent remainder will be refunded to you in cash at time of check out.

It's been my experience that quite a few check-in CMs don't know how to set up a charge account with a cash balance instead of a credit card. Some will even tell you that it can't be done at all, because they don't know that it can be done. But the supervisors all know how to do it, so have patience and it will all work out.
I'll have to ask when we check in about doing that. We always have Disney rewards and the one time I asked, I was told I had to apply it to the balance after. I went to the front desk mid trip to do it.

The Disney Visa Rewards are a slightly different matter.
If you do not use up ALL of the rewards, I'm not sure they can refund them. It would be best to just charge to the room and then pay off the balance by taking the rewards card to the front desk and clearing them off.
I have several giftcards that I plan to use on my room account to pay for charges to the room. If I have excess left over at the end of the trip do they give that in cash or put the money back on a giftcard?
Yes, they can reissue the money back as cash or put it back on a gift card, if you prefer.

To avoid complications, I'd suggest stopping at the front desk the afternoon before you check out. Pay off you balance with the and ask to get any remaining money back. Then use cash/gift cards for any purchases the next day. That way, your express check-out process won't be impacted.
