Okay all--here's a good one for you--What would you do if you have a trip scheduled and realize that you may not be able to ride rides or that you will be "slightly" incapacitated--i.e. neck brace? We'll be going to F&W the first part of October. The flights are set, the room is set, the annual passes are purchased.
So, if you were "banned" from all your favorite rides, what would you do?
I would still go! From the sounds of it you may be able to ride simple rides like Jungle Cruise, visit shows, meet characters, enjoy F&W, tour the countries in Epcot, shop, resort hop, dine, do a tour or two!
Even though some of your favorites will have to be skipped, there are many treasures you should be able to enjoy.
I would have to say it depends. If I'm going because it's the F&WF and I plan on spending most of my time doing all that comes with that and very little in the ride department anyway, I would probably still go. If my plans were to do the rides and have very little to do with the F&WF, I'd most likely cancel and go when I can do all of the rides. Good luck deciding though - it can't be easy.
Yes, agree with everyone that you should go, despite your challenge. Food and Wine Festival is ideal. I really dislike being scared, so I never ride roller coasters and grown-up rides, so to speak. But, WDW always has lots to do for wimps like me. I love Dumbo, It's a small world, riding boats, Tea Cups. I go to shows, fireworks, sip coffee and people-watch. I love the parades, watching the animals at Animal Kingdom and AKL. It is also fun to watch other people stumble around after the scary rides. Oh, and I search out anything/everything to eat in Mickey Ears, preferably with chocolate.
Have a magical day!
Julia

I guess I would soak in the magic vicariously. WDW seems like such an awesome place just to be there. I wouldn't know what to do in a similar situation, but I would try to make the most of it,and look for some "magic" in what may seem like a not-so magical trip.

I'd still go. You'll have an experience different than in the past and may even discover things you've overlooked on previous trips when focusing on the rides. Remember - even the most limited trip to Disney is better than none at all!!
....you say Food & Wine Festival...heck...you WHISPER Food & Wine Festival...and I'm there in a heartbeat....regardless of ability to ride some of the favorite rides (ones that could jolt or jostle your body). I think that there are enough "calm" attractions to let you absorb the Disney Magic...and to be honest....Epcot is our favorite park...and the World Showcase the favorite 'section'. I could just sit in each of the 'countries' for an hour at a time...have a bit of 'native food & drink' and feel immersed in the cultural surroundings.
I really think you could have a great time......I'd go for it!!

Anastasia made this our most memorable dinner! She even told DS to write her...
I would still go and just enjoy the atmosphere and the dining. For us, riding the attractions is really only a small part of the reason why we love Disney.
The atmosphere, the food, relaxing at the resort, shopping, photography, chat to PPs and CMs, linger over meals, take the time to wait for parades and night time shows in comfy seats....so much to do - you may just need a vacation afterwards.
Actually, one year when we went to WDW, I didn't even get to go to any of the parks. The first day we were there, DH had an "attack" (as he calls it) with his MS. He was still somewhat mobile at the time and able to get around, but the heat really bothered him.......Anyway, he "went to bed" and that was it. This was a family vacation and we were staying in a grand villa at OKW. It was amazing. I spent my vacation on the patio reading.....it was the most relaxing vacation I ever had. I did go out to get us "to go" meals when the "kids" went to the parks and one night one DD and I went to Olivias for dinner and another night DS, the other DD and now DSiL went to Konas for dinner. Although, I couldn't be with my DGDs and witness their first time at WDW and see their faces on rides and attractions and seeing the characters....they would tell me all about it when they returned to the villa each night.....I really loved that vacation. All the ADRs were kept by the family members and I had unused park tickets to use on my next 2 trips to WDW. Go and enjoy.
I'd probably still go. Some people post that they don't even go to the parks on their vacay! As everyone mentioned, there are rides you'll be able to do, much of Fantasy Land, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Buzz? TTA, plus all the movie type shows also lots of shows at DHS, Great Movie Ride, back lot tour, TSMM, etc
I'm sure you'll find lots to do. We did the drawing class at DHS and was really fun.
AK has lots of shows too, aside from the 2 big ones, I enjoy Flights of wonder. The trails, the train, and just walking around this park is amazing. Bugs Life too.
