Question Dairy Free Ice Cream?

Just wondering if there are any places that have Dairy-Free ice cream at WDW? I will more than likely still need to avoid dairy (mainly milk or cream) options when we go next year and I was hoping to find some ice cream that I can eat. I have read that The plaza can make dairy free shakes so my hopes are up that I can find dairy free ice cream too.

We found those fruit bars at the ice cream vendors over by tomorrow land speedway. I know it's not technically ice cream, but it will cool you off on a hot day.

I have read ppl mention 2 different dairy free options...something made with SILK and something called Tofutti? I don't know if either of those 2 things sound familiar and I can't tell you where to find them but WDW does have dairy free options.

It varies from restaurant to restaurant,
Fruit bars
Toffuttie
Frozen bananas may have dairy in the chocolate
Frozen Lemonade cups
Rice Dream ice cream
Dole Whips have casein in them even if they say dairy free.

Have noted on all ADRs that you are dairy free. Contact WDW dining for advice on where to find dairy free foods. Chefs can make gluten free shakes using rice dream or tofutti if they have it in stock. Wilderness Lodge has one of the best stocked restaurants for special diets. As for the rest of WDW it varies. Given time chefs can make miracles happen.

Those of us with celiac often have other allergens. She is a good souce for WDW allergen information. My internet is not very spunky or I would list brands.

Thanks for the link. Chocolate is not an issue, not enough milk in it to bother me. I actually do not care for Dole Whips so that is no biggie, I am more of a Mickey Bar person. But I know those are not Dairy Free. This really sucks but I have to deal with it. Hopefully it goes away like it did years ago.

Just about all table service have or can quickly get Tofutti or Rice Dream....though you may not get to choose the flavor (usually basic choc or vanilla). It is best to let the chef know upon arrival what you might like so they have to time to make sure it is in stock or they will send a runner for it.

At least one quick service snack location per park carries it as well. At MK, it is the Plaza Ice Cream and it even says it on the sign (in tiny letters on the bottom). At DHS, Scoops carries it and at Epcot Sunshine Seasons has some. Can't recall AK...

As an aside, if you eat at MK and really want a shake....go to the Plaza Restaurant....chef Ken is truly amazing and kind and makes wonderful shakes!!!!

Lastly, many of the restaurants we have been to also have sorbet...,certainly not as decadent as ice cream but cold and refreshing and a nice alternative.

HTH!

Chef Ken at Plaza is a very special person as he has worked for Disney over 30 years and is a Blue Badge. Blue badges were given to Legacy winners which were very special people. He makes me gluten free club sandwiches. He does make a great milkshake.

Thanks Danielle. We have never been to the Plaza before and were planning to eat there on our next trip so it is good to know that I will be well taken care of as well as my son who has a peanut/tree nut allergy.

Disney dining can help you with your son's allergies as well. Unless it is inhalation sensitive then he should have few problems. Ice cream shops will get a new vat of ice cream and a new scooper, for example. If he is touch sensitive then you have to watch surfaces as people bring sandwiches into the park. If you have any questions just ask. There are lots of us here who have dietary restrictions or family and friends with dietary restriction.

The other chef is Miss V who is a great chef and best is discribed as a momma, sweetest lady you could find.
