Ticket?? [unused 7 Day MYW w/Water Park Fun & More]
We purchased 7 day hopper tickets with water park & fun visits. We have a family trip planned in May and the rest of the family will not be getting hoppers or fun visit tickets.
My question is can we take these unused tickets and trade them in for "no expiration" passes that we could use on future visits and. We would just purchase new tickets for this trip. If we can do this do we have to upgrade to the hopper with fun visits or is there any other options for us.
FYI - purchased these tickets through Undercover Tourist.

Tickets don't expire until they've been used at the turnstiles so the tickets you just bought will be good until you decide to use them. As for needing to upgrade, I guess I don't understand what you're asking.

I'm with Darlene. I don't quite understand your question.
If these park hopper plus tickets haven't been used, put them somewhere safe.
Buy the new tickets you need for this trip.
Because you bought them through Undercover Tourist, you can't remove the water parks and fun visit or the park hoppers. Since they are unused you can save them for another trip if you want.
Then buy basic 7 day tickets for the trip with the rest of the family which is what I think you are contemplating.
Another option is I think you could bump them up to no expiration at the park if you want to save the water parks and fun visits for another trip and still use the 7 days at the parks instead of buying new tickets. But you will have paid for park hoppers that you aren't using in that case. So I don't think this is the most cost effective option.
* I'm not 100% sure about this option but I do know I was able to add park days to my Undercover Tourist tickets at the park so I would think you could add no expiration too.
Yes, I agree, you can't take off the hopper or WP, but you can add the no Expiry.
As mentioned, they will not be the best use of your ticket.
I'd save it for another visit, and buy the 7 day non hopper ticket for this visit.
Or- do you have to be tied at the hip 24/7? You can all go to the same park in the morning, have lunch together or what ever, then if you want to hop to a different park, do so, and plan on meeting up for dinner. Or hop after dinner. On water park days, plan on meeting for dinner- and evening together, etc. Just depends on how much togetherness you want
The reason we would want to upgrade to no expiration is that we usually don't visit the parks every day on our future visits. In a one week stay we may only visit the parks maybe 3 times so the ne tickets could be used on the next couple of visits.
now I'm wondering if we could upgrade to APs. At least we would get a couple of visits with that as well. Now then we are DVC members sk if we did upgrade could we get that discount? Hope this makes sense to someone out there.

I would upgrade to APs. To add the No expiration would cost you $202.35 (this is with tax) for each ticket. The AP may cost a little more to upgrade too, but you will get some perks with the AP that you will not with a regular ticket.
By upgrading you may decide to head out to a park breakfast or for a fireworks show. Because you now have an AP you won't have to worry about using a day. AN AP gives more freedom.
Yes, as a DVC member you can upgrade your tickets and still get the DVC discount. We did this in April. You have to show proof of DVC membership and the DVC discount on APs is only good for those people in the members household. I would use the tickets once first (run them thru a turnstyle) to be sure you get the credit for the full ticket price. The only disadvantage is that you will not have water park and more visits unless you upgrade to a premium pass, and that might be a bit spendy for your needs. You can get a DVC discount on tickets to the waterparks however.
Could you explain why I would have to run it through a turnstile. Wouldn't that then eliminate one day of entry on the pass?
Or are you saying that when we are ready to upgrade to an AP, on that day we entry the park with the 7 day pass and then go over to member services and do the upgrade on that same day.

Sorry, should have explained better. When you are ready to upgrade to an AP, use the ticket first then go to member services to upgrade. The reason for this is that tickets purchased through Undercover Tourist are discounted. If you use the ticket before upgrading, you will get credit for the full, non-discounted price of the ticket toward your AP. It won't be a big difference, but it is something. We upgraded on our second day of using our 6 day hoppers. We went to Epcot that morning, toured for a bit and then exited thru the International Gateway and upgraded at the guest services there. We also bought our Tables in Wonderland card then (as you need a valid AP to buy TiW for $75).
It doesn't matter if you upgrade the ticket to an AP on the first or 6th day of using the ticket, you still get full credit for the price of your 7 day ticket. But to take advantage of AP perks, like discounts for merchandise, etc, you'll want to upgrade after using it once as Holly said.
