ok, this is the first time we will be using this. I know some people tip. I have a few questions...
Who do we tip? the driver? or is there a different person who handles the bags?
When do we tip because isn't it the concierge who handles the bags at the resort?
I know we get luggage tags and I filled out all the information but it didn't ask how many bags we'll have. We will be flying SouthWest which allows two checked bags per person for free and I fully expect to check nearly everything. Will Disney send enough tags for all eight of us traveling? and does this include carry-on bags, as well, or just checked bags?
Usually, we get a rental car right there at the airport, but my husband found that if we get one from a rental place across from the Swan & Dolphin, it's $200 cheaper. So hence the reason for using DME. Who knows, in the future we may do this all the time and then not rent a car at all! (Although, I really like having my own car to come and go as I please, plus we will probably be making a one day trip to Universal to experience Harry Potter).
I've actually been looking at rental car prices onsite as well since we'll be at Saratoga springs. I haven't used ME in over 7 years and back then Southwest didn't participate so I had to lug it all. Sorry im no help but I'd love to know as well.

That's where we'll be at, too! Saratoga Springs is our home resort. I cannot wait to go back. 177 days seems so far off yet and I'm just going crazy waiting!
You will receive 2 tags per person now. It used to be one tag per person but my last 2 trips, I received 2. Those tags are for your checked bags.
The bags that you tag for Magical Express will be picked up automatically at the Orlando Airport. You don't need to tip anyone for those because they will be delivered to your room supposedly within 3 hours after you check in to the resort. I say supposedly because I've never been in the room when they have been delivered. I usually hit the parks right away. If you are in the room when they deliver those bags, then I would tip 1.00 per bag.
For your carryon luggage, you would bring that with you to the bus and the DME bus driver will put it under the bus. I always keep my personal item with me on the bus since it's normally my laptop. When I arrive at my resort and the DME driver removes my bag from under the bus, I tip him 2.00 because I think 1.00 looks pathetic when I hand it to him. If there was more than one bag, I would tip 1.00 per bag.
If your room isn't ready when you arrive, you can give your carryon bags to Bell Services and head out to the parks. Then when you return to the resort you can either go to your room right away and call Bell Services to delivery your carryon bags and tip them when the bags are delivered or you can pick them up from Bell Services yourself and tip them then. I usually pick the carryon bags up myself from Bell Services since it's late when I get in from the park.
Have a great time!

We've only received 1 tag per person, but you can call and receive more. We also take a picture with our digital camera of each piece of luggage with the tag attached-just in case they go astray. It's also a good idea to have some things you'll need with you because it will take a few hours for your luggage to catch up with you.
I tip $1 per bag that the DME driver touches. Usually that's just our carry on.
Last Jan, we only got 1 tag per person, but as mentioned you can request more.
We leave in 7 days and we only got 1 DME tag per person, had to call and get more. You could also let them know before hand that you will need more then one tag per person.
$5 to our DME driver since there are 5 of us and $1-$2 per bag for the bell service if we are in the room when they drop off our luggage, and same when we are going home.
Sometimes the driver has someone help him at the airport load the bags but I have never seen anyone tip at the airport. Most people tip the driver when they get off the bus and I think $1 per bag is common.
We have only ever received 1 tag per person and we tip a $1 per person, we dont really have any bags to put under the bus. As everyone has mentioned you can request more tags if you need them.
