Can anyone please tell me the best place (possibly Ebay) to buy pins from. We would like about 100 to be able to trade in the parks. Can someone give me a name of someone they were happy purchasing from (safe)
Thanks
We've made a couple of on-line bulk lot pin purchases through e-bay for trading in the parks and on the ship. I don't recall the specific seller, but they had high rankings on e-bay. Here's our story: Williams Family: The Disney Trading Pins Arrived!
Happy shopping!
Yep, to get DS started we've purchased a few batches from EBay over the years. A few times he's scored limited editions from the batch, so those went straight into his case. lol But we've never had a problem with any of their vendors there. We didn't buy huge batches, because we like to buy at the rides or Pin Traders or the resort pins.
I've used http://www.mousepinsonline.com quite a few times and have been quite happy with the pins. They cost about $1.50 each and we use them for traders. Actually there have been a few my daughter chooses to keep instead of trade. But they are definitely in the budget for trading.
I just ordered 25 pins from ebay. I purchased them Tuesday, they came yesterday! Very reasonable to.
Just look at the seller ratings and you'll be good to go!
I went through a page or two on offers and in my opinion of the best deals for 100 pins, buy it now, postpaid, is $59.95 or approximately 60 cents per pin. For 50 pins it is approximately half the price of 100.
If you go through all the pages you might find a cheaper price. The above is only to give you an idea of prices. Higher prices for lots do not give you better pins just more profit for the seller.
The pictures of the lots are not necessarily the actual pins you will receive. It does not matter which designs you receive as you will be trading them at the park for the ones you want.
For ordering pick the lot with the quantity you want to buy, the cost of the pins and the cost of the postage (use the Free Postage). Use the Buy It Now method and do not place bids.
Clicking on the pictures of the lots will enlarge the picture and give you more information on the lot for sale.
The above ebay site will automatically update itself deleting sold items and adding new offers.
For Q&A come back and someone will reply.

Thanks for that link. I've just added that to my favorites because I'm thinking of buying Abby a lot of pins for her birthday next year if we can make a go of this trip.

I've used www.ebaystores.com/four-js-ltd several times. Its great because you can choose your own lot size. That way if you need to budget out the money and buy several lots you can.
Please, please, please do not buy pins from ebay! Most of the pin "lots" sold on ebay are "scrapper" pins and counterfeit pins, which are illegal and a big problem in the pin trading community! Yes Disney Cast members will accept them because they don't want to ruin the Disney magic for a kid so many people don't care. But please consider that someone else might come up behind you and trade for that fake that you just put on that lanyard. So you got your magic, but you just ruined it for someone else. If you're paying $.50 per pin, you are most likely buying scrappers. Feedback isn't really a good way to judge a seller since most people who buy from ebay are just casual vacationers who want some pins for the kids. They aren't educated about scrappers and don't care about the quality, as long as they get their pins in time for their vacation.
There are other places to buy pins in bulk. Several forums devoted to Disney pin trading have sale boards where members can sell pins individually or in bulk. These communities have their own feedback system and members will not tolerate people who deal in scrapper pins. Please see the following for info on scrappers and counterfeits.
The pins are for my 6 year old daughter to enjoy. All she cares about is how it looks. I also checked the pins when we get them to make sure they are actual Disney pins. Kids really don't care if it is real or fake! I'm sure my daughter would trade a real Mickey pin for a pretty princess pin. As long as she was happy, that is what counts.

I understand that you care about your daughter's enjoyment. My point is that one child's enjoyment should not spoil it for the next person. If your child doesn't mind getting scrappers then that's fine for you. But not everyone feels that way. And not everyone who trades is a kid! Pin traders come in all shapes, sizes, and ages.
Honestly, the counterfeiters are very good and it's very hard for even experienced pin traders to tell the difference. Most of the more serious traders won't even collect Hidden Mickey pins because they're so heavily counterfeited and it's just very hard to tell. It's a huge problem and there's not much Disney can do about it. But everyone who buys counterfeit pins is contributing to the problem.
mom23k9s, this is the very reason we NEVER buy from anywhere but Disney. I bought a lot off a pin site that has been heavily promoted here. Most of those pins went into the trash. Not even my kid would mess with them. I've also heard the argument about official pins from overseas being ok. But they look cheap and aren't nearly as nice. I really hate seeing any of those on a cast member's lanyard. At least my son has a good idea of what he's looking at and what he wants.
Feedback isn't really a good way to judge a seller
No it isn't. Both my mother and I bought items from high rated sellers and what we ended up with was complete fakes. Mom's was a computer game that was listed as an original but you could tell once we got it, it was a burned copy and my item was a movie - again listed as an original copy. When you see things like Memorex (or whatever brand it was) printed on the inside of the disc, you know it's not an original copy. After that, I truly think a lot of these people who leave feedback leave positive feedback because they don't want to admit they "got taken."
Plus nowadays, I don't think it even lets you leave negative feedback unless you've contacted the seller somehow.
