Osborne lights confusion
I'm about to ask a weird question, I'm sorry! But I don't really understand how the osbourne lights display works
Are the osbourne lights on every night over the holiday period? Are the streets of America shut off or can you walk down there? How is viewing organised?
I Would love to hear more about this!

You just walk through, like you would down Main Street when it's all done up for the holidays. They don't "turn on" until after sunset, but otherwise, there's no seating or reservations needed, and they are up until right after the New Year.
The area does, however, get busier once the lights are in full display during the evening, but getting back there and finding a place to stand isn't too difficult since they literally line everything! It's an incredibly amazing show! Speaking of show, I can't remember the frequency, but they do also dance to the music throughout the night too! It's definitely something to see if you head over to see them at some point during your trip.

Thanks Kelly! This is great info. Sounds like a great thing to see especially the dancing lights! Also sounds like I could do this any night as I'm staying at bwv so that's good. I assumed there would be tickets or queuing typical English we love a que

The first time we saw the Osborne Lights, it was not really crowded --- either we picked a slow night or it was busy after we left. But since then, watch out!. It can be a little hard to walk around with the crowds, but it is a definite Do Not Miss. They do a wonderful job and it is truly awesome.

It's included in your park tickets. Normally the lights are turned on around 6:00 pm when it's dark enough. It's pretty crowded initially, but there is a big "Oooo!" factor to seeing the streets go from dark to stunning. You just walk (well, ooze your way through the crowd) down the streets, admiring the lights, enjoying the music, and snapping pix. The lights "dance" about every 15 minutes, and they also have fun fake snow at times. There are Disney Photopass photographers if you want a family picture. We also like getting a hot chocolate, either at the stand or in Writers Stop before we enter the area. You'll love it, really. It's so over the top!

Linda's right. This is one of the best arguments for getting the park hopper add-on. It rained one night when I took my son and the lights were turned off after only a few minutes. We were able to go back the next night to really see them even though we had been to a different park, thanks to having the PH.

Everytime we have been to SOA for Osborne Lights it has been extreamly crowded. It was hard to walk down the street. Even when it rained it was busy. Still the lights were a sight to see and I would recommend everyone take the time to see the lights if they are at WDW at Christmas time.
Just don't try catching any of the "snow" on your tongue! Doesn't taste good, or so my kids have said. But the lights are so amazing! I could walk around there for hours, as there are so many little details. Look for Hidden Mickeys, and try to find the purple cat!

The lights are a must see for our family when we are down that time of year. The "snow" is so much fun falling down. The area is crowded but it is manageable.
They are definitely worth taking the time to see. In addition to the Hidden Mickeys be sure to look for the black cat. It's in a different spot each year.

Good to know that it's crowded in advance. As our party is two adults, we can try a bit later in the evenings.

We have AP's and 10days staying at bvw so we should be able to spare time to go back if we don't get to see them on the first attempt.

I'm not good in heavy crowds so it's good to know its not unbearable.
