DBF wants to go to WDW the first week of December this year.
If my research is correct this is usually the week Pop Warner comes to WDW. For those of you who usually attend around this time, how are the crowds? Are there really loads of yelling cheerleaders and kids running about? We will be staying at POR or CSR if it makes any difference. I'd like to go at this time mainly to see the Christmas storytellers at Epcot but my main choice is the week before thanksgiving because that is the week of DSs birthday. However December is in between DSs and DBFs birthdays so I'm ok with this for that reason as well.
How is the weather? I know FL is hard to predict but I may be able to sway DBF to switch to November if the weather is colder than he'd like. Average monthly temps only tell so much.
Any tips for someone who hasn't gone during this time of year?
If you stay out of the values (All Stars, mostly), you should be fine with Pop Warner. I chaperoned DDs PW Dance Team a few years back & we stayed at POR. The food court in the mornings was very busy, but everyone behaved themselves. The parks were fine. The PW kids are busy during the day--the boys have their games & each day a different division of girls have their cheer competition. Most cheer teams come in a day or so before their day & leave the day after. Keep an eye on the PW website: www.popwarner.com for updates as the year goes on. They do offer a moderate for the kids as an alternative to the All Stars, some years it's POR. Others it's CBR or CSR.

We were there last year while Pop Warner was there. It was never an issue - we stayed at Wilderness Lodge. The crowds were low.. the weather was nice. We were in shorts during the day and pants and light jacket at night. I loved going that time of year and thinking about booking a trip again for 2013.
Thanks so much! I have heard some people complain about the PW kids but I always take complaints with a grain of salt since you don't know these people. (People are just cranky sometimes!). Tho it is good to know about the busy food courts in the morning.
We stay at AS Music every year and overlap the Pop Warner crowd by a few days each time. This past trip was only the second time in 12 years that I felt irritated enough to make a modest complaint--and it happened in a park, not at the resort. (Really, cheer girls, did you need to scream over and over again while we waited to be unloaded at Splash Mountain?? The CM I spoke with rolled her eyes and shrugged.)
It's a good time to go as the weather is moderate as are the crowds (mostly). Walking around is pleasant, and most days it is warm enough to swim too. The holiday events are in full swing, and the prices not bad, so it's our very favorite time to be there.

Went we the last week of November/first week in December this past year. The other thing that was going on was the taping of the Chistmas parade in MK. We just avoided MK on those two days. Because of the parade taping and PW, we saw quite a few cheer groups and marching band groups in the parks, but they were well behaved. Most broke up into small groups once they were in the parks, and for the ones that didn't...we just went the opposite way.
