Hi I need suggestions on what to do on our arrival day. We probably be arriving late afternoon. We have resort only tickets for that night. there is two of us staying at a value resort. We would like to do something when we get there. We would take all suggestion under considerations. Thanks in advance.
Downtown Disney or go visit the Boardwalk. You could even go over to Animal Kingdom Lodge and animal watch. Have fun!
You didn't mention the kind of people in your party (kids, couple?) But I like this idea, plus have a bite to eat in the 'lounge', shop, and/ or I think you can eat at the Rainforest Cafe and shop outside of Animal Kingdom without admission to the Park. Or night time is great at the Poly on the beach to watch the electrical water Pageant, and then a stroll over to the Grand Floridian for some great 'spa' indulgences that you forgot to pack. Enjoy
Downtown Disney is an option, as is the BoardWalk. You could even rent a boat at one of the marinas. Personally, I'd book a nice meal at a resort for the first night.
I like to explore my resort because many times I run around the parks so much I feel like i've missed something the resort has to offer...and we have gone to DTD because we love it too!!

We usually arrive around 1 p.m. and get settled in our room. We normally go to MK and hit just some of the favorite rides and get back to the room early. We don't plan a big meal for that day. Usually CS and or snack.
After a day of travel, we usually just take the time to settle into our room and relax at the resort for a while. We usually go to a nice restaurant at another resort or DTD that evening (be sure to make your reservations). If you choose a MK resort, you may be able to view WISHES that first night.
Downtown Disney gets my vote. You can stroll around and shop. There are many places to eat. Maybe check it out online and make an adr for dinner. You may want to make it an early night to rest up after traveling and be ready for a fresh start in the morning though.
We like to take a bus to the MK and then take a resort launch (boat) to one of the resorts for a CS supper and to look around at the scenery and shop(s). Most often, it's the Poly, where we'll end up down on the beach to watch the Electrical Water Pageant and Wishes, but you can watch the EWP at any of the MK resorts. The viewing area outside the Grand Canyon Concourse at the Contemporary is also a great place to view Wishes.
The new Splitsville at DTD might be fun if you are looking for something active to do. You can have a meal there too. Then walk around DTD and enjoy window shopping.
We usually just settle in and hit the pool, followed by dinner in the food court (we normally stay at Music). If you don't want to leave your resort, just walk around and take pictures with all the huge themed icons. Stop and have a cocktail at one of the pool bars, and take a late swim before retiring for the night so you'll be ready to go to a park the next day.
