Another Disney Rewards Question

We are going to Disney in April. I would like to cash in some of my points now in order to buy some park passes. Can I cash more points, perhaps in March as I accumulate them closer to our trip? Thanks, Laurie

You can have them added to the card you receive. Just remember they expire on the date printed on the card to which you apply them (You can have two cards at a time)

plus if you have the card, you can transfer points even while on site by calling.

i believe DTD guest relations can even issue cards for you.

Re: Another Disney Rewards Question

Once you have your card it is very easy to transfer points online, but be very cautious of the expiration date on the card. You will lose any points on there after that date!

Is there a set time for how long the reward points are valid? I'm about halfway to the minimum to get the rewards card and I want to use those points when I go to WDW next year(November). I expect to reach the minimum 20 points next spring, but if they expire in a short time, I don't want to get my card too soon!

Re: Another Disney Rewards Question

My last rewards card was good for one year. I got it just before our 12/05 trip and just transferred some points to it for our upcoming 11/06 trip. The expiration date on the card says 12/06.

Hope that helps!

Re: Another Disney Rewards Question

The cards tend to expire on Dec. 31. I'm not sure when during the year they start sending out cards for the next year. Points are good for about 7 years when not transferred, so I would wait until you are sure you are ready to use them to transfer them.

Re: Another Disney Rewards Question

We just got a new card this week and it expires Dec 2007. I transferred what we had now for our trip next Feb/March - since I wanted the card "in hand" to make sure I got it in time, and could deal with it if there were any problems (there were none) we will transfer again after the January statement comes out - and use those points to pay off part of our package - then, during our trip, the points for the March statement will appear, and we'll transfer those last two months (including points for our big payment) and use those to help pay for our last character meal.

Re: Another Disney Rewards Question

I would wait too, till closer to trip time. I can't remember the number, but you can only get another card if the minimum points is a certain amount. Maybe 10 or so? What that would mean is that if you get a card with your points now, and don't accumulate enough for the minimum to get a new card, then you won't. Call and ask how long it takes to process and mail your rewards card, maybe add a week or two to be safe, and order it in time to get it before your trip. Good luck and have a great time! Ruth

Re: Another Disney Rewards Question

i believe it's a 10 point minimum to *transfer*, not get a new card per se
