| Teen in WDW......help Hello everyone. I am sending my DD18 to WDW for her senior trip. Just curious if you guys had any suggestions? I am a little nervous! This will be the the first time one of my kids went without me. She already had a little "demo" with her friends to explain to them how the fastpass system works! She is packed, has zip locs, her power strip, knows to take a picture of the back of her ticket as soon as they give it to her (to send to me just in case!), etc...... What advice would you tell your very capable child of 18 for their first trip to the World without you? Thanks! |

| Have fun and don't do anything you don't want your grandmothers to find out about later!

| well....coming from somone who went to disney as my senior trip when i was 18 i can try and help....for starters remind her that even though it is disney....she still may not wander off alone anywhere...esp towards the PI area at night should they head that way....remember to always have emergancy contact info....to keep hydrated and keep sunscreen handy ( i wore my hair in pigtails one day and my scalpe got really burned ouch ) take a camera for lots of pictures! also to get a look at park hours before she goes and look at what parks have emh and possibly plan around that...lastly just remind her to have a blast! |

| I am so crazy, that I have made a cheat sheet with each park's hours for while she is there! She is pretty level headed, but I will add the part about not going anywhere alone. I never thought to say the words out loud, but I guess I should! |

| I have traveled with a teen to WDW more times that I can count. It is hard but not impossible. If you know any teen they are going to act like it is not cool and autographs are so over. Just keep telling them this is a place you don't have to be an adult or child. I do autographs and after I started I noticed she was getting into it...we also did the coin press and we used the coins in a charm bracelet. It is something differnt and her friends thought it was cool

| I wouldn't worry too much. My parents let me move to New Orleans 2 weeks after I turned 18--and I did okay in the crazy crime city. Just tell her to follow the same basic common sense sense she would use in a big city. Stay in touch, don't go off alone, have a good time, but not too good a time. Disney tends to be really strict on drinking rules--so I wouldn't worry about that.

| What a great senior trip! Just keep reminding yourself that you wouldn't be sending her if she wasn't responsible enough to be trusted. I would remind her that even though she's at Disney, she still need to use her common sense about people / situations. And then tell her to have an awesome time, take lots of pictures, and eat at least one Mickey bar!

| something else i thought of, my mom bought me a pre paid calling card, so i was able to call and check in with her while i was down there and didnt have to use the crazy rates to call long distance *( back then my cell phone didnt have the free long distance stuff that most do now)* so depending on cell phone service that is something else you may want to look into |

| I wouldn't worry too much. I went on a trip to WDW with a dance team when I was 18. None of us had ever been there before and we were fine. Your daughter is probably a pro already!

| I went to WDW when I was 16 w/ the choir/band. Believe me, there is nothing to worry about, teachers and administrators go overboard when protecting their students while on a trip like this. They set up (for us anyway) chaperones for every four students, so there was always an adult who knew where we were and what we were doing. Of course, PDA in the line for Space Mountain....well, they didn't know EVERYTHING. LOL Some of my best memories of hs are from that trip! your dd will have a WONDERFUL time!
