I booked a trip to AK 1/5- 1/12 but I know they are planning to take the aminals out to open the new villas. Any news on what they are doing the first two weeks of Jan 09.

I just read something about that somewhere too (maybe allearsnet?) I can't remember when it's happening though - sorry!

I read about this too and I think that my DH asked when making our ressies. I don't think that ALL of the animals are being taken out. I think that they will not be using ONE of the savannahs. They don't have animals out on every savannah all day any way. I believe that they rotate so that they can provide care and such for the animals.

I am sure that someone will know the real deal though.

We are going in late Jan. '09 so this concerns me a little. Below is what I found on Allears.net. It looks like the Sunset Savanna animals will be off exhibit Jan.-April. I've never been to AK, so I'm not at all familiar, but it looks like Sunset Savannah is a new exhibit that will be part of a new resort. Maybe they're not removing any animals that are part of current exhibits??

Phase I contruction is now completed. This was the renovation of existing rooms in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, called the Jambo House. Outside construction of the new animal barn is also complete. Disney Vacation Club has announced that the Kidani Village will open on May 1, 2009. Members who call Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas "home" may make reservations starting August 10, 2008.
"As the development of Kidani Village continues at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, crews are preparing to complete the new savanna and acclimate the animals to their new habitat. To accommodate this important process, animals are not scheduled to be on Sunset Savanna from January 15-April 15, 2009.
