I am so sorry that you had to cancel your family trip. It sounds like you have had a pretty rough time. I hope that you will be able to start planning a new trip in the near future.

sorry to hear about all this. take care of you and your family and Disney will seem all the better when you get there later. It will break your heart now to hear your wee ones wishing they were at WDW but at 5 yrs old you know he won't even remember that you didn't go. You should arrange for a FGM for the kids. So, you wont be able to get to disney right now..., but how cool would it be to get a card from the mouse himself, esp around christmas.
Being with family and having your health is what really matters the most....
take care and pixies for you that a WDW trip is closer than you think.

I am so sorry to hear about your cancelled/postponed trip. Little kids don't understnad sometimes (nor do older ones for that matter) so I hope you are able to reschedule and get another countdown going.

I'm sure you've already cancelled by now, but have you thought about maybe getting one or two small gifts for the kids and still going? Downgrading resorts? Not buying any souvenirs? (well, the overpriced ones you don't need)?? While we take spending money, since we go yearly (knock on wood) we find ourselves not wanting/needing those "tangible memories" as another passporter so eloquently put it. We end up putting the money towards food/tips and coming home with extra to put back for next time.

Sorry you had to postpone your trip. Someday your children will understand. When I was a child we had a "Disney Fund" and we saved change and can money towards our first trip. I really liked being able to contribute even if it was a penny I found on the street. Maybe if you started a change jar or something they would not loose hope on going in the future and your children can feel like they can help make it happen.

Hey everyone - thanks for the sympathy - I knew you guys would understand.

I have considered every possibility of ways to make the trip happen. We already cut pretty far back on Chrismtas - just regularly - because with me staying home with the kids - our money is pretty tight anyway. We have a lot of family over for the holidays - and that in itself is costly - just to have so many house guests - but as far as gifts - we really only buy for the kids anyway - and just a few others. And, I'd put it on a credit card - lol - but we have worked really hard and mostly live credit free - and we just can't sink ourselves into that hole again!

I haven't called and made the final cancellation. I guess I'm hoping for some divine intervention or somethig! My last day is Thursday to cancel and get a full refund - sooo - I'm going to wait until then to do it!!

Heather

I am so sorry about your trip. I totally understand about having Disney Depression. We had to cancel our January 2007 trip and still can't reschedule. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season despite all that you've been through.

I am so sorry Heather!

Its funny --I have a book from The Kennedy Space Center. God is not in there(That I know of) but a lot of cool rocket stuff is. If I had your address I could send it to your son. It might cheer him up. Or it might depress him more. Your call!!! But like people said WDW and Disneyland will both be around for a while. Just save the best you can. And if you want the book its yours!!!

I am so sorry to hear what you and your family have gone through. You mentioned that the trip was virtually paid for. Maybe some time in the happiest place on Earth would be just what your family needs. I don't think you need to pick between Disney and Christmas. Your kids are so young that they don't care if it is a $5.00 gift or a $50.00 gift. (This wouldn't work if your kids were older) As for your family-I'm sure that they would understand. Maybe your whole family could do something different this year instead of gifts. (Have everyone make gifts-I know it's corny, but it's cheap!) I'm only thinking this could work because you have paid so much of your trip already-wouldn't you be losing a lot by cancelling, too? There are so many websites about doing Disney for practically free-check some out! It's not about how much money you spend at Disney, it's about being together as a family. I hope everything works out for you.
