| I am so sorry to hear about your postponing your trip. My heart was breaking reading your post knowing how difficult it was for you to have to tell your 5yo. I hope some magic happens that you can still go as you certainly could use this vacation. I wish I had an endless pot of money then I would be your fairy godmother but alas, that is so not the case. I can send pixies and good thoughts your way in the hopes that it all works out for the best for you and your family. Take care! ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Ok - so - I should have cancelled on Thurday and I could not make myself do it. At this point, when I cancel I'll lose 100 dollars. I guess I'm hoping for some miracle to fall out of the sky from my insurance company. My mother spent about a day not talking to me because she was so mad about the whole thing. Sigh!!! She cancelled hers on Friday - but she is not happy at all!! I just don't know what to do. I still don't see the trip happening - even if we could get our insurance to pay more on our house - which we are working on - I'm afraid it won't all shake down in time for the trip!!

| I know what you mean. We need to cancel our December trip and I can't bring myself to pick up the phone yet. I think we have up to 5 days before as we have room reservations only at AKL (which I was so looking forward to). I guess I'm hoping for a miracle, like 5 companies will hire me for work between now and then (I am a freelance consultant). What sustains me is knowing that Disney will be there next year and my son's 13th b-day will be the day after Thanksgiving next year so we can go then and with their new b-day promotion, he will go free for the day. I wish you all the best and just know that I feel your pain.

| Thanks y'all - I just am so stressed. I mean - we are so entrenched in Disney planning. My son has a couple pairs of Disney Denim jeans - and they are his favorite and he puts them on and he's like - these are my DISNEY JEANS!! And even though I've told him we are not going - it's like - we are so trained here to just talk about Disney - and the trip - that he forgets and will say something about our upcoming trip - which absolutely kills me. A couple days ago I said "Remember, we are not going to Disney" and he whirled around and said "We're NOT???? But, the hurricane is OVER!!" Sigh. He doesn't get the connection between the hurricane that was weeks ago and our finances now - he's too little to understand all that. Blah. I have such a case of the yucks about this whole thing!! Heather

| Would you're family be willing to make the holidays a potluck style affair? You and DH provide the turkey/ham (whatever your main meat dish is) and non alcoholic drinks and family/friends provide everything else. Have tried discussing this with the various family/friends that come for the holidays they may very well be willing to skip the gifts for the adults and just do gifts for the kids since they're probably having a rough time financially due to the hurricane too or at least would most likely understand why you are. |

| Another thought. Have you considered making gifts for the adults? I bake gifts for the adults. I'll make several kinds of muffins and give enough for each person in that household to have 1 of each kind of muffin or I'll make a pan of cornbread and a small container of homemade honey butter for each household and year before last I made everyone a loaf of bread. Compared to buying everyone a gift the ingredients and disposable containers for the baked goods don't cost much and everyone really seems to appreciate receiving a homemade something that can be used as a snack or to round out a meal during the busy holiday season or even frozen to be enjoyed later. |
